BRILLIANT response from Sir Chips on the question of the Qatar World Cup in 2022:

Ferguson wrote:

My recollection of that fabled incident is that when Ruud van Nistelrooy came into the dressing room, he complained that Arsene Wenger had been giving him stick as he left the pitch. Right away I rushed out to say to Arsene: ‘You leave my players alone.’ He was incensed at losing the game. That was the reason for his combative behaviour. The next thing I knew I had pizza all over me. They say it was Cesc Fabregas who threw the pizza at me but, to this day, I have no idea who the culprit was.

Following the release of this extract, influential Arsenal blogger Arseblog posted an image of a pizza slice onto his Instagram page.

Amazingly, Cesc Fabregas immediately liked the image, further suggesting that he was indeed responsible for Pizzagate.

Unlike other club legends that are currently involved with the club, Cesc doesn't get a free pass. If he is useful as a coach, scout or whatever, then great. But if we can hire someone better for the job, then tactregas can take his superior non-wenger-taught genius elsewhere.

To be honest, I rather Cesc shut up and focus on his own club (this goes to every former players). I prefer they keep it quiet like RVP, man the feck up and keep to himself. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what they say about their love for Arsenal, they LEFT and dissapoint many loyal fans. :coffee:

this

in saying that:

How good can Ramsey and Wilshere be?

As good as they want. They have quality on the ball and they have the physical attributes. Ramsey's stamina is spectacular. He and Flamini are the strongest I've ever seen, covering the ground. Wilshere is a bit different to the typical English player. He's not a [Steven] Gerrard or a [Frank] Lampard, he's more of a short passer, a "tocador"; a player of association. Ramsey is one of those that you look at and think: "He doesn't stand out in any specific quality, but he does everything, everything, well." His touch is good, his movement's good, now he's scoring goals too, providing assists. He's a kid who as a team player is a beast. Above all, he now has the confidence, responsibility.

Sooner or later, we'll all see who the prophet is.

I also said I wouldn't condone bad behavior.

On the instance in question at that time, I felt that he had been a victim of a witch hunt. Funnily enough the quote has now died a death, along with all the other trashy gossip bollocks that was probably around that slow news week. And as far as I know, it really hasn't affected anyone since, either psycologically or physically...leading me to think that I was right to let it by as just another silly comment from a footballer, but a footballer who plays for my club...hence why I chose to back him, rather than do him down.

I don't really know where you're going with this, but you're way wide of the mark if you're looking for me to condone drug-taking, violence, rape, murder or anything else which is illegal or blatently wrong.

If Jack was guilty of such offences, I would not support it.

There's was also the cigarette smoking incident which I personally thought was unprofessional.

Fair enough, it has, I personally believe that as a professional sportsman he has a duty to look after his body (that's what we pay him for after all), footballers are paid a lot and should be put in line when they do something which could affect the club.

What he does after his career is over (as long as it doesn't affect anyone else) I don't really care about, but during his career with us he should make sure he does all the things he should in order that we get the best performances out of him as possible.

I get that, but I guess I'm just imeadiately protective of our own players. Us against the world and all that.

I remember Mr Arsenal smashing his car into a brick wall whilst pissed up, doing time in prison, and still being adored by the fans.

I'm never going to condone that kind of behaviour, but I think it's a little bit unfair, that having been posed a question by the dribbling cunts in the media, Jack's now public enemy number one, with even some of our own fans getting on his case.

He may be a bit thick, but fuck it, it's what he does on the pitch that counts, and he's clearly a very talented footballer. I'd like to see him fulfill his potential, but he won't if he's going to get beaten down by all and sundry.

Your last line contradicts what you say at the end in a sense, although you say you don't condone it you pretty much say you're happy to ignore it and that it's what he does on the pitch that matters.

So if we had someone like Joey Barton you'd be happy to support him despite him getting up to allsorts. I don't feel that way hence the reason I didn't want Suarez at the club.

Cant wait to have him back! He offers alot to our team, since he is the only proper left footed winger we have, he might not be in the starting line-up, but as many has mentioned in here, right now we have no way of mixing up our attacking options. "The atmosphere was weird," he said in the Sun. "It felt like the crowd was at the theatre - good seats, expensive tickets and they wanted to see a show, not to support the team.

"It was like there was no advantage in playing at home. Many of the players - the leaders that were left from the club's time at Highbury - often complained that the atmosphere in the stands was so bad."

All fans are certainly not the same. We're definitely a shit set of fans - not all, obviously our away travellers are regarded to be among the most supportive - but generally we are shit. We know how Wenger feels on the issue too and he's not wrong IMO. That said, I don't think all players deserve support regardless. If they're mentally weak or not lazy then fuck them. Arshavin falls into that category so I don't particularly have any sympathy for him.

Arsenal have spent years marketing relentlessly to the middle class fan who tend to be less raucous and pricing out and alienating the traditional, working class fan. They can't then moan that that's exactly what they've got.

Dennis Bendtner
01-11-2013, 04:16 PM
I think Arshavin's point refers mainly to the ambivalent prawn sandwich lot, whereas the gripe Wenger has had before concerns the bellends that actively get on the team's back by booing at HT or FT or calling Theo a cunt and what not. The latter is still raucous, it's just raucously being a rubbish fan.

Syn

I don't judge anything on how much noise is made. I think it's common for away fans to dominate at a lot of big club's grounds. It's not just us who attract tourists. And people are paying to be there; if they don't want to chant or whatever, that's their right. I'm referring to getting on the back of players and with social media now it has made it much easier for fans to be heard. That's obviously what Wenger is talking about too. e.g. Ramsey was obviously feeling the effects of the fans getting on his case. At the ground and off it, he was well aware of the stick he was getting and he also had to quit twitter for a year because of the abuse his own fans were giving him. This was a young lad of 21 who had missed a year through a broken leg and at no point was seen to be lazy or unmotivated, despite the poor performances. If he becomes a top player in a season or two and wants to leave, I couldn't really blame him.

More generally, it seems to be a cultural thing. Liverpool are going through a relatively barren spell given their history too. And I think it might've been MS who pointed out how most of their ex-player pundits are at the other extreme of bias and positive support and thinking they're still the bestest team around. With us, it seems most of our ex-players can't wait to stick the knife in. Some genius from a paper thought asking a footballer his political views on who should play for England was a good idea. Jack says, 'English players should play for England' and then it's a media shitstorm and again many Arsenal fans couldn't wait for the opportunity to have a go. Suarez racially abuses a player and tries to engineer a way out of the club, and still his own fans supported him through all that. I'm not saying we should be like Liverpool fans and back players and the team even if they do scummy things, but there's a middle ground that we are nowhere near IMO. I think both sets of supporters are at two extremes. I'm not the moral arbiter and I'm guilty too, but that's my view. Can take or leave it.

I don't think these are problems unique to Arsenal. Spurs have been utter shit for years, a couple of decent seasons and already you can hear the mutters of discontent at half time if they're not winning. Fans are massively fickle and get easily spoilt.

I actually think Arsenal fans at the ground are pretty good. Too quiet, sure, and of course there are vocal frustrations as there always will be. Those are generally followed by encouragements though and generally I think Arsenal fans who go to games have been massively patient with some players who are earning #shitloads (which is part of the problem - a complete disconnect from modern players, long gone are the days when players are local boys made good who are earning good but not silly amounts of money) and delivering very little.

Social media doesn't help of course. Players and fans are on different planets in some ways these days but in others are closer than ever because of things like Twitter which allows them to shout at each other in person, from the safety of a keyboard.

FUCK OFF you CUNT

What he's getting for it on twitter: https://twitter.com/search?q=Bendtner&src=typd&f=realtime :haha:

"I had it all in place, there were three clubs who were just waiting for me to say yes to one of them.

"It was not the mindset I had (staying at Arsenal). I was incredibly disappointed when he (Wenger) called because I was ready to move on. And I actually did not think that they wanted to keep me."

"When I'd been at the club since I was 16, I found it totally ridiculous that they had put me in the reserves and let me train myself. Suddenly everything was back to normal: I trained with the first team, I hung out with the first team, I had a dietitian again."

"I have to fight twice as hard during every game and also score to have a chance to start next time, which in itself is hard when I haven't hardly played in a year due to injury and have not had a pre-season with the others on the team.

"Right now I'm the easy prey to them because I want to get away from the club, and Arsenal do not want to keep me. And these haters - they always choose the easy option."

Syn
09-11-2013, 10:15 PM
Back up or no back up, we should've let him go. If Giroud is injured, we play Ozil upfront until Walcott/Podolski are back. What the fuck is Bendtner going to do anyway? It's not like anyone at the club sees him as a realistic option. Gazidis said this earlier today: "‘Olivier Giroud won’t be able to go on all alone until the end of the season. We need to buy."
In that case there was pretty much no need keeping Bendtner here. (http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/09/arsenal-need-to-buy-another-striker-in-january-says-ivan-gazidis-4180184/ )

What happend to the new humble bendtner? Stupid cunt... Yes there was 3 clubs, even early in the window AND ARSENAL EVEN SAID YES YOU STUPID CUNT. Wow he really makes me mad, he was playing the clubs out against eachother the get a better salary, i remember Wenger early in the window saying that they had accepted offers on Bendtner, but he was no where near leaving the club, hinting that bendtner didnt accept because the salary wasnt good enough (malaga and frankfurt confirmed this) and now he's blaming arsenal!? I hope Wenger doesnt sell him in January and doesnt allow him to show up on the training grounds, for saying this, so he can rot up and gets in even worse shape, so the guy has a really hard time finding a proper club next summer.

Jesus Christ, I actually loathe him now. Sure I never liked him before but I could at least tolerate him. It's never his fault is it? There's always someone else to blame for his problems. Pathetic. FOAD Bendtner.

The team is top of the table and doing well in the CL with confidence high and he does this now. Instead of Wenger and the team being solely focused on a really important match tommorow and a crucial run of fixtures to come, we're going to have this distraction with him having to field questions about this and decide what sort of punishment he'll have to deal out. He's also putting some of his team mates whom he's probably decent mates with, the likes of Rambo, Theo, Verms etc who've known him for a while now, in an uncomfortable position where they either have to side with the club & the fans or with him. Essentially he's jepordising our chance of success just for his own selfish egotistical reasons.

We accepted bids from clubs this summer, he had a good month to sort out where he wanted to go but in the end because of his refusal to accept a wage cut because of an inflated view of his own abilties he's found himself stuck here because we couldn't get a replacement until he fucked off. And now he's blaming us right now for it?

What happened to knuckling down trying his hardest, therby possibly earning him a decent new contract at a new club. God, out of spite I hope we force him to train with the youth team now until his contract winds down instead of letting him go with any sort of dignity in January. It's not like we'd get any money out of him anyway.

Probably based on the game , but the core of it:

-------------Giroud-------------------------
----Cazorla(Ox/Pods)-------Ozil---------Theo(Gnabry)-----
---------Ramsey(Rosicky)-----Flamini(Arteta)--------
Gibbs(Monreal)----Merts--Kosc(Verm)---Sagna(jenks)------

Exactly what I was going to ask. But then I didn't bother. But now I will give my thoughts.

Young Serge didn't handle that well. He writes as if he's spelling it phonetically so that we can understand. Certainly the 'REE' part at the end indicates this. But then 'GER' is anything but clear. If he is having this much trouble trying to convince people about how to say his name, how is he going to convince his teammates of his movement and positioning? Worrying times ahead.

I'll just call him Sarge. Sarge needs a loan move to Swansea City FC in January. Half a season to Lukaku it.

Wonder if he has any regrets about joining the MLS. Not as bad a waste as Beckham but still...after Barcelona he was capable of another couple of seasons at the top and adapting his game without pace as a squaddie. He's got 50 years after football to spend in the states.

But must say I'm quite impressed with Henry and Pires training randomly with Arsenal. The facilities are top notch but they have no real reason to hang around now that they've retired. They can 'stay fit' anywhere but I think they're trying to help out. Credit to Arsene too for keeping that connection.

He could still do a perfect job for us compared to Bendtner, he might have lost a yard of pace, but is still a lethal goal scorer who makes runs behind the defence.

Chances of another loan deal as our striker pursuit fails again ?

Wonder if he has any regrets about joining the MLS. Not as bad a waste as Beckham but still...after Barcelona he was capable of another couple of seasons at the top and adapting his game without pace as a squaddie. He's got 50 years after football to spend in the states.

But must say I'm quite impressed with Henry and Pires training randomly with Arsenal. The facilities are top notch but they have no real reason to hang around now that they've retired. They can 'stay fit' anywhere but I think they're trying to help out. Credit to Arsene too for keeping that connection.

I love seeing our former players do things like that, even if it's just popping in for a bit of training. It shows how much they care about this club. Pires is actually an official ambassador for Arsenal now :scarf:

We need an extra body on the board and he seems like a decent chap and all but I don't think it's a good idea to have two family members. You want someone with their own opinions - I don't think Josh's views will deviate from his father's. It's not an issue right now as things are all peachy but god forbid if things turn sour and boardroom tensions emerge then he'll just become another yes vote for his dad. Would have prefered Bob Wilson or another legend.

Speaking of the Kroenke's they were present today along with Wenger at the unveiling of PHW's bust.

I wonder if our Champions League group has had a positive affect on the league as well, beating good teams gives them confidence and the fact we are top of a very difficult group and just need to avoid a spanking should mean we go through. The team get alot more out of beating Dortmund/Napoli than a Olmpiakos os Sparta Prague it means alot more.

Yeah but swap Fernandinho with Nasri and I think they have the edge. Nasri is finding some great form just before we play them.

City have an unbelievable set of midfielders and strikers. It's their defence and GK that will give us a small chance in this title race.

What I had in my head was basically is their best midfield 3, whomever they may be better than our midfield 3.

Their strikers wipe the floor with ours frankly (I really like Negredo other than the obvious name) but in midfield it's much more close.

Amazing that they have scored 11 more goals than us.

Penguin

Individually?
Right now Silva is better than Ozil is, although he has had the benefit of having a few seasons of experience in this league.

Yaya Toure is the best box to box mid in the world, you can see why Barcelona were upset about having to let him go for £24m. He's worth much more than that. Overall he's better than Ramsey despite Rambo's freakish run of goals.

Fernandinho I don't particularly rate, he runs around a lot but he always seems to be a bit of a headless chicken. I suppose he's important to them because he acts as a foil to their other players and gives Yaya the freedom to roam, similar to what Flamini does for Ramsey. But I wouldn't have Fernandinho over any of our midfielders.

Collectively I would put us on a par with them in CM.

McNamara That Ghost...
07-12-2013, 06:31 PM
I think ours is better. Yaya is great when he does get the opportunity to break forward or spray passes, which he is really excellent at but he struggles against teams that have fluid and fast playing midfielders. It's no surprise that the one side he shits on the most out of their rivals is Man Utd and the one he does not is ours.

Even if I am wong and it is worse, our collective midfield is younger.

Anyone else think Montreal should be given a run down the left? Gibbs has been consistant and solid this season but for me Montreal offers more in the final third and looks more comfortable. His crossing and general link up play would add something IMO considering we have n real left sided midfielder.

After recent games I would agree. As an attacking threat Gibbs is very hit & miss but I worry with his positional sense defensively. Whenever a ball is crossed towards our far post he always seems to be too central & doesn't compete well for headers. Had he run & got closer to the Spanish lad yesterday rather than back off & let him shoot, he would have forced him into a tightr angle.

Gibbs has improved this season. I said a few months ago that he needs to fix up defensively at the minimum and to his credit he has improved a lot. But he still makes little errors that don't always lead to goals but they can cost us over a season. He also doesn't offer much of a threat going forward.

Nacho is more polished at both ends of the pitch and is unlucky to be second choice IMO.

Syn

Gibbs is underrated. It's true that he is improving rapidly but he's already performing at a high standard. He was a part of the 2nd best defensive record in the league last season and the best defensive record this season. He was completely screwed over with injuries which is why he has only made 75 first team appearances at 24, so the learning curve will be steep for him even now.

Monreal looks a good option but for this league Gibbs has a physical advantage being quicker and stronger. If we saw Monreal have a run of games I'd guess he'd make more errors than Gibbs does. We've already been fooled by the new signing, fancy footballer LB when many us (myself included) thought Santos would be better than Gibbs. Not in the BLitW.

I've liked Monreal in his cameo's but I think Gibbs deserves the chance to continue going from strength to strength. He can still learn a thing or two, but his faults aren't such an issue that he needs to lose his place.....although I can understand why in certain games, the manager would opt for Monreal.

Monreal really is a superb professional. He's a fantastic player, who would be first choice left back for most teams in this league except i think Gibbs is just better, not by much though however because Monreal is so good, he pushes Gibbs to make sure he is the best he can be. every time he comes on, he does well. He never moans, always works hard and thats only good for us. genuine squad depth.

players like monreal, rosicky, OX, Vermalen, Podolski are all good players in their own rights. Not starters though but come on and change games, or slot in like they have always been there. Look at Vermalen at united. he was superb there, Rosicky is great when he plays. Good players who just push the current first team to be better. we've moaned about squad depth for a while now, but we finally have it.
