GP

Yeah I don't really get their argument.

There's an argument that pension age is too high for both men and women, I don't see why women should get preferential treatment.

Letters
03-10-2019, 09:55 AM
One of my feminist friends says it's not the equality they're unhappy with, it's the way it's been done so quickly.
There is an argument there - people who made career decisions based on the idea they'd be getting a state pension at 60 are suddenly not getting it for another 5 years.
So maybe it hasn't been done in that smooth a way.
But, overall: Meh.

The new Public Sector pension pays out at "the retirement age" and who knows what that will be if and when I get there.
Happily I do have a fair bit in an older scheme which pays out at 65.

I tell them every time. Its a fucked up world, full or looneys, psychos, deviants. Dont take anything for granted. Dont leave your drink to take a pee. Dont trust strangers, or friends for that matter.

The pathetic thing is this terrible tragedy happens time after time and still young girls, grab a bag and up sticks for a solo adventure. It will happen again.

Also, the stock answer to your post is “stop victim blaming” :sulk:

To which my answer is always “do you lock your door when you go out?”
Which, of course, everyone does. Because they understand that there are bad people out there.
If you leave your front door open and you get robbed then is that your fault?
Not really, but is your insurance going to pay out? Are they balls, because they expect you to take some responsibility for keeping your possessions safe.
I have literally never heard anyone say
“why do they keep telling people to lock their doors, tell people to stop robbing”.
But that’s the argument you get around “rape culture”.
Why don’t you tell men to behave themselves, rather than telling women how to act.
Men ARE told that, but if you’re the sort of scumbag who is going to rape women then you’re probably not going to listen to that.

Basically, it comes down to this: we all have some responsibility for our own safety.
It would be nice if we lived in a world where there were no bad people, where you could leave your door open and not get robbed, where young girls could go out dressed how they like, walk home on their own, accept lifts from strangers.
But we don’t live in that world, so take some responsibility for your own safety.
Literally everyone understands this, that’s why they lock their doors.
I wish people would stop pretending they don’t understand that when it comes to women being attacked.

The headline infers blame on a company for providing a product that when used, by default, damages your creditworthiness.

A more accurate headline would be “Not paying what I owe messed up my credit score”.

Did you know that the original name for Pac-Man was Puck-Man? You'd think it was because he looks like a hockey puck but it actually comes from the Japanese phrase 'Paku-Paku,' which means to flap one's mouth open and closed. Are they alluding to that? If so then...lol.
Things like snooker and darts, sure, no reason women and men can't compete on equal terms.
Anything athletic though then obviously there are physical differences which mean women aren't going to be able to mix it with the men.
Women's football is actually pretty high standard these days but in terms of pace and strength there are obvious differences.

Picture the scene.

You're a young man from Azerbaijan and you've recently moved to England for university.

You're in your first year, you're still adjusting to a new country, culture, language etc.

You're struggling a bit to make friends in this strange new place, but one thing you have in common with many of the locals is that you're a big football fan. You were lucky enough to be able to go to the Europa League final when it came to your home city.

Oh and look, and you've recently discovered that your college has a football team that trains once a week and is always looking for new players, perfect!

You decide to go along.

You don't know anyone, but you're eager to make a good impression, but you're understandably a bit nervous, so you're not playing your best. The ball keeps bouncing off you, your passes are going astray and you've made a few mistakes that lead to opposition goals.

It's also fucking freezing, and the wind is blowing hard enough to knock goals over. You're frustrated that you're possibly ruining your big opportunity and that the football here isn't like what you're used to back home where it's nice and warm.

It's getting towards the end of the session, and you're determined to make a good impression. After your below-par performance, it's going to take something spectacular; the chances of putting in a consistently good shift are gone.

You see one of your teammates make a mistake, and hand the ball an opposition player who passes it to a man in front of goal, who you're near to. This is it! This is your moment! If you can block this shot and save a certain goal, that's what you'll be remembered for, and the rest of your performance will be forgotten!

You go to block the shot. You're a few yards away and the striker is close to shooting, so you need to jump to get to the ball, but needs must. You leap through the air, foot first, determined to get a touch on the ball ball. This is going to be spectacular! You're gonna be a hero!

But alas, the striker gets to the ball before you. Quite a bit before you, in fact. So much so that he has time to plant his foot onto the ground in the exact spot where the ball was. The ball you've just launched yourself at with all your weight.

Crunch.

The striker goes down yelling in pain.

Fuck.

Not only have you just played below your usual standards, you've also injured one of the players whose team you wanted to join. This hasn't gone at all as planned.

To add injury to insult, you've also hurt yourself in the process, and as you see the man you injured being supported by his teammates, you're left to limp back to halls alone, dejected and miserable.

Anyway yeah I feel bad for the guy, but being on crutches for the next few weeks is gonna be annoying as fuck.

All a huge nonsense. Hyped by the media and lunatics like the Dems in the States. Which means, even though there's as close to zero risk as makes no odds, there will be serious issues because the ninny generation are panicking. They were all out with their mobile phones and their designer glasses (that just have glass in them rather than lenses) in the supermarket today, buying loo rolls and pasta. I saw one millennial spastic with about 800 toilet rolls in her trolley until she was informed by the (barely containing hysterical laugher) checkout girl that it was max 5 per customer. Yes, rationing bog roll, pasta, water and soon everything I suppose. And the self-confinement. The modern generation is so weak and pathetic it's offensive. I want to puke when I see them.

Now anyone who I've accidentally given all that information to will also need my bank card, a card reader, a steady hand, the ideal lighting conditions and a singularly powerful magnifying glass to gain access to my overdraft.

Finally!

I've already booked a day off work next week so I can log in and check how much the bank shortchanged me on currency transfers.

The Nationwide app just needs your fingerprint. Chop my left thumb off and my details are all yours.
The Barclays one only wants a PIN.

The reason why many hospitals corridors are full and no space for real medical cases. Doctors having their schedules full unraveling confused nitwits. Who knows what this pair will want to be in 5 years time?

Scumbags are charging £20 for a bottle of Dettol on Amazon. I saw it while trying to get a bottle of 70% Isopropyl which I bought for £4.99 a few months back (I prefer the taste to Bells). Now it's £22, the price of a half decent bottle of Scotch. Greedy bastard will force me to buy a nice bottle of Laphroaig.

How did this get to court? Surely before it got anywhere near court someone should have said “oh sod off”.

Why doesn't she get her wallet out and buy a cure? Or write to some influential insider and ask for a favour? Seems to me she's not trying every usual angle.

Does anyone know how incredibly fucking small a virus is?

And yet, we all mindlessly do what these cunts tell us to do. #stupiderthanavirus

Holy shit! They are doing an entire test of working at home on Monday and are asking everyone who can to work at home so they can test how things will go in the event of the inevitable zombie apocalypse when they need to close the office. Sheesh!

Anyone who hasn't stocked extra water and food by now, strongly suggest you do it sooner rather than later to avoid death. Lots of empty supermarket shelves in my town. Regardless of the threat from the virus, panic will be the thing that has consequences for everyone.

If this gets any worse people might even resort to eating THFC Title Winners Iced Celebration Cakes.

I'm actually "self-isolating" anyway right now. Had a bit of a sore throat the last couple of days.
Don't feel too bad and in happier times I'd have gone in today but the advice is to stay at home if you have any cold-like symptoms so I am.
