An idiot? No... he could get a career ending injury at any time. He'd be an idiot not to go to RM for £80k pw.
If it doesn't work out he can drop down a level and he'd still only be 20 ish (not sure how long his contract is).

united want paulista, no doubt we'll bend over backwards in order to help them get their man.
He looks a bit like Keown.
Wonder if he's an aggressive nutter like him too.
Having to hire the parents isn't the greatest development we've seen in the game. Says a lot about the parents and their idea of what sport is. Hope it doesn't rub off on the kid.
Another one of "Wenger's misses" :coffee:

Arsene Wenger: Visa denied Arsenal's Angel Di Maria move
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he was unsuccessful in signing a 17-year-old Angel Di Maria due to work permit regulations.
The Frenchman wants restrictions for non-European Union players to be scrapped as he tries to sign centre-half Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal.
He suggested Home Office criteria prevented him from signing Manchester United's Di Maria nine years ago.
"We wanted him to come here," said Gunners boss Wenger.
Di Maria, 26, signed for Manchester United from Real Madrid for a British record £59.7m in August.
Wenger said: "We had identified Di Maria when he was 17 in an international competition.
"But he went to Portugal, and from Portugal he went to Spain. Why? Because he could not get a work permit for England, so that meant you could only get him to England once he was worth a huge amount of money."
Wenger needs Home Office approval if he is to complete the signing of Paulista because the 24-year-old is yet to represent Brazil.
The Gunners boss has criticised proposals to reduce the number of non-European Union passport holders in the English game next season.
He said: "Ideally it would open completely, and anyone could come in."
Currently, the work permit requirement for non-EU passport holders is that they have to be an international from a country ranked within Fifa's top 70 and have played 75 per cent of their country's international matches in the last two years.
In order to sign Paulista, they would have to convince the Home Office that the defender was an "exceptional talent".
The Football Association wants to reduce the number of non-EU players within English football by up to 50%.
But Wenger thinks scrapping the regulations would be better for young English players.
"You could close completely the borders of the country and play only with English players. What will that do? That will kill the attractiveness of the Premier League worldwide.
"The second option is to say 'look we have the best league in the world, so let's produce the best players in the world'.
"One thing is for sure, if you put a young player with top-level players, he has more chance to develop. If you put him with average players he has more chance to remain average."
Mind you, I do remember a false rumour spread by a certain "dead poster" about us being interested and signing Di Maria back in 2007 right before he moved to Benfica so there may be some truth to this after all. :ninja:
van Moyes is trying to hijack the Paulista deal, apparently. He's a player the overrated Dutch charlatan has wanted for a long time, in fact ever since we expressed an interest. He's also signing Hummels, Pogba, Cavani, Messi, so a very busy window for the arch incompetent.
How the hell did we get work permits for Song and Denilson? We must have been slipping someone the brown paper bag to get those guys over. Without a doubt that guys been fired now because we're getting no favours on the work permits.
God I hate that Van Moyes, Van Morrison, Van Winkle......in fact vans in General can go do one
Reports saying Paulista is left out of Villareal's squad for tomorrow's game.
Sky sports reporting Paulista fee agreed.......15 mil euros+Campbell on loan.......work permit still to be sorted but Villareal reporting done deal on their website so we can be optimistic....can't we?
If his club are reporting it as a done deal then it's a formality.
We got him.
Let's see how he is....
Villareal won tonight....with clean sheet to boot.....hope we got right guy!!!
So as we have now loaned out 3 strikers, does that mean we can expect 1 back in return?
Made up story in the DM about Coq. Apparently he's waiting to see if Wenger recalls a player who doesn't play in his position before agreeing a new contract. Makes sense and I'm absolutely sure Coq would ring up the DM and tell them all this before today's game.

Gabriel Paulista has been granted a UK work permit, clearing the path for him to complete an £11.2million switch to Arsenal.
The Villarreal defender is completing his medical and provided the procedure doesn't flag up any issues, the 24-year-old will seal his move to the Emirates on Monday.
Home office
Continue to do this country proud
Is that his leaving present he's holding?
#Gutted
Would like to see some legs on the Destro rumour.....apparantly Spuds are sniffing around too ( unlike Scum to be interested in someone we are.....!!!)
Rumours of DM apart from BM utility player has dried up do reckon Wenger is in bed with Coq
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...uba-Akpom.htmlQuote:
Liverpool are said to be ready to battle with a host of other leading teams to land Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom.
According to the Star, Akpom is stalling on a fresh deal at the Emirates and has alerted European sides and a number of Premier League teams, one of which is thought to be Liverpool.
Akpom is out of contract in the summer and came off the bench in Arsenal's 3-2 FA Cup win over Brighton at the weekend. He has been offered pre-contract talks with Borussia Dortmund and Dutch sides FC Twente and Feyenoord - according to Eurosport.
Akpom, who joined Arsenal at the age of six, is still some way down the pecking order at Arsenal with Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott ahead of him.
Arsenal face a battle to hold on to striker Chuba Akpom. FC Twente, Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord are poised to make pre-contract offers for the player who has just six months left on his current deal. He also interests Manchester City, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs.
Typical Wenger - dragging out Paulista signing. What's the betting it gets confirmed 30 mins from transfer deadline to make us feel like we've done well again. Reality is we need top players to compete, the signing of Sanchez proves that. Without him we'd be a mid table team. Instead we get a Polish kid & an uncapped player in his mid 20's. Apparently we in for Schniederlin in the summer. Why not do the deal now, he's not cup tied for C.L., improves our starting 11 & weakens a top 4 challenger.
I think Paulista is a great signing IMO. He seems like a great defender. We dont need to be signing the Maldini's of the world to prove we are world beaters. Kos is a great example of money well spent. Frankly I am content with the spending this window... Ideally I would like to have a Defensive midfielder signed but I also see the lack of availability as a factor.
Schniederlin could cost a fortune right now and dare I say that I think we can ride out the remainder of the season with Coq and Ramsey/Flamini playing in that role. In the summer it'll be a must to clear deadwood like Flamini, Arteta, Diaby and bring in a promising DM and a full back.
Id rather stick with Coquelin for time being of it means getting a better DM on the summer.
I think you are suffering from Wengeritus - the cost difference between buying Schneiderlin now or in the summer against finishing lower in the league & maybe missing out on C.L money.
When our competitors need improvements they buy them - they don't keep waiting until the next transfer window.
by the way more fantastic news - Arteta has signed a new contract
1 year extension apparently.
No DM this summer. :rose:
