Arsenal will face a battle for Gervinho as Lille prepare to offer their striker a new deal.
Arsene Wenger looked set to loosen his purse strings with a £12million bid for the Ivory Coast star but the Ligue 1 champions will not be losing their main man without a fight.
Lille general manager Frederic Paquet - who earlier this week revealed talks between the two clubs over the 23-year-old were at an "advanced stage" said: "We are in negotiations with Arsenal over Gervinho.
"We received an offer from London and although our intention is to offer a new contract to our striker we will talk to Arsenal."
Gervinho played an instrumental role in Lille's double-winning campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions but his exit could help secure the services of the highly coveted Eden Hazard.
 Lets hope he stays at Lille

Arsene, make it happen
Saiifou top of the list, if we're losing a New Zidane we might as well pick up the Togolese Zidane.
If Hargreaves was fit, id love him here. Awesome player.
But then if he was fit there is no way he'd be available on a free
Worth a risk id say
He's better, you can't chant Adebayor to the tune of Daddy Cool.
Salifou
What a player.
Rodwell is an absolute shitcunt
I watched him in that under 21 game the other day and his performance / touch / control / general lack of ability was totally inexcusable. If he ever played like that for Arsenal I would literally want to murder him.
P.S. So glad Mark Randall is gone, the bellend. No offence Mark if you're reading this, i'm sure you're a good lad.
Having met and played against him when I was 16, I can confirm Randall is indeed a cunt.
I played against him in our local under 16's league. He was just a bit of stuck up prat, bitching to the ref if anyone touched him. It was well known that he was being scouted for professional clubs so I guess everyone was a bit envious really and roughed him up when they could. He was shit though so no one could understand why, very easy to knock off the ball.
Seen him out several times in the bars and clubs in MK, especially when he was on loan at the Dons. Typical mind of a footballer, 95% of people didn't know who the fuck he was but acted like he was A-list.
A nothing player who will never amount to anything. Well rid.
His middle name is Leonard.
Says it all, I'm afraid.
How much of that will come true?Quote:
Arsenal are considering a move for Inter Milan's Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o after he revealed he would like to try his hand in the Premier League this coming season. "I have already shown that I have what it takes to play in Italy and I now have the idea of proving myself in England," Eto'o told Corriere dello Sport. (Full story: Corriere dello Sport)
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is also keeping tabs on Germany Under-17 striker Samed Yesil. The 17-year-old is yet to break into the first team at Bayer Leverkusen but has attracted the interest of a number of clubs across Europe after some dazzling form in the European U-17 Championship earlier this year.

The north London club could be on the verge of a double transfer coup after opening talks over signing Bolton defender Gary Cahill, and their former midfielder Sebastian Larsson, who is a free agent after leaving Birmingham.

Wenger's side are also poised to complete the signing of Lille forward Gervinho for £10.6m in the next 48 hours.

However, French club Lille are preparing to offer Gervinho a new contract in a last-ditch bid to ward off interest from the Gunners.

Only the last line
I would bum Wenger like it's 2004 again if we signed Eto'o.
No way we're getting Eto. His wage demands are too high..will be off to Citeh if he comes to the PL...which is a shame because I've always felt he could have been immense for us.
But yah, the rumours and links with numerous players, after several years of transfer drought are certainly exciting.
If wenger did bring in Eto'o then I will change my name to "I Love Spurs"
Hasn't Eto'o and Song just had a bit of a bust up with the national team?
Would probably rule us out tbh
Kevin Phillips released...He scores goals :)...okay im joking he aint arsenal quality :(
a quote from barcunts president. this one espcially angers me. the first thing any club should do is ask the club who owns the player if they want to sell and bid for him, not talk to the players cos thats fucking tapping up. they are fucking cuntsQuote:
"What is the limit for signing him? We'll need to see. First we need to know what his salary is and what are his conditions."
Yeah like you say typical footballer, he also looks like a complete chav.
Nobodies with next to no talent like him should be more humble, he got a lucky break some players put their heads down work their socks off and make the most of that, others just act like big shots.
This guy sounds like a tw*t, he'll probably end up playing for some Sunday league team.
Fuck me, just seen the draw for next season. Newcastle away, Pool home, Manure away. Please Arsene, buy Samba anbd Cahill quick!
We don't get to see anything of the European leagues outside of CL stuff down under so i had to go to Youtube to find anything on this guy. If what i've seen there is the best of his career i have to agree with you. All sounds a bit too much like the hype that preceeded Chamakh to me which, as we know, quickly turned to fizzle
I'd rather play manu at the start of the season before they have really got going. We did OK last year at OT - yeah, I know we lost 2-1 but they did not play well and we had to score their winning goal for them (thanks, Diaby) and without bad luck, we should have won that one, or certainly been good for at least a point. I think they are more nervous at the start of the season, growing in confidence through the season, so that is the time when they are most vulnerable and giving us the best chance to nick 3 points at their gaff.
Is this another one of those players AW likes to go for, from the French league, not that well known and not too expensive.
Not that excited about him either tbh, I'd like to see more established players preferably, who are a bit more proven at the highest level.

:haha:
Not even nobodies from bum league want our flops.
