RvP, Cesc, Nasri, all of them would have stayed if they had genuine ambition. Running off to the biggest clubs isn't ambition, it's the easy shortcut. Doing the hard things (admittedly close on impossible with Arsenal) is impressive, remarkable. So what if RvP wins a title with money bags Utd? Or lesbo picks up a trinket with some oil operation? That's unremarkable and unimpressive as Welles completely expected. Fact is, all of them shirked the challenge and pissed off to easy street. Certainly they made the right choices for them and certainly it's right for the fans that stay through thick and thin to berate them for abandoning ship.
Where's the challenge in staying with us, it'll be a miracle if we win anything....the manager isn't capable of producing a winning team anymore he's proved that.
Who want's to waste their entire career at a club that will never have a chance of winning under the current setup, you'd have to be a fool to do so.
That's the one variable we have that no other (legitimate and serious) club has to tolerate. Our board and manager have no interest in winning anything. They say they want to win but their actions say the opposite. So I suppose on that basis it provides an excuse for the players who leave.
Nail on head, no matter how much you love where you work, if the management is incompetent, and not doing everything within their power to achieve success, it's only so much you can take. When you have options.
It'll be one thing if it was a situation where the club is punching above it's weight, but we all it's not the case.
The facts are plain for all to see. We are are football club fallen into the hands of Corporate raiders who do not care about the history or ethos of the club as a winning enterprise they do not care a jot for the feelings of the fans and merely go through the motions each year to keep up the illusion of wanting to compete. they have done a simple cost/benefit analysis. spend 200m each year for a comfortable return of 250m. OR spend 300m for the risk of glory and a potential return of 400m. They have chosen the easier route.
The players can only stick with the project for so long. They see other clubs winning and want that feeling, just like the fans do. No talented player is going to risk a whole career with the only thing to show at the end is loyalty to Wenger. He calmly pockets 7m a year, probably 7 times what someone like laudrup gets and easily twice what 15 out of 20 managers in the EPL get. Yer he preaches frugality at every opportunity. He is a con artist and sold out to the board long before the snake oil salesman Kroenke showed up. We can hate on the players all we want but we know its true.
however Nasri, adebayor they are both s...theads. I still have respect for Cesc and RVP. I think both would have stayed if ******* had shown signs of changing his ways. We could have paid them what they are being paid elsewhere but we all know we prefer to waste our money on crap instead.
We all love to call Ade names, but it was the club who sold him, from my recollection, he didn't negotiate anything with City, he was just told . Arsenal accepted their bid.
It's totally sick, strange and perverted. But I clapped when RvP scored that stunner vs WHU. And then thought WTF? I knew he'd score as soon as the ball went near him. Hes the genuine article, the real deal. It was refreshing from a neutral (now Utd are several levels beyond us) view to watch a genuine talent doing highly competent work and actually making an argument for being worth what he gets paid. He really will nake all the difference for utd this year, itsnot hype, not media bullshit, its real. It's still unimaginable we sold him to Utd. The ultimate fuck off to the fans from everyone at arsenal and final confirmation we have precisely zero ambition in this league. What would happen if the situation was reversed? The answer is, silvestre.
No chance of Cesc staying. He, before RVC did what he did was the biggest **** in football. Pining for a move back to the ****s, not playing for us, feigning injury.
Would anybody fancy a punt on Russel Martin. captain and CB at Norwich. I just googled his stats: 26 years old and far better than any defender we have at the club. Scores goals too. 4m would do it i guess.
Four solid CBs who do not have massive, massive flaws in their game. That would do. Merts, glacial, can't play at this level. TV position ally dreadful, no real comprehension of the defensive role. Kos, potentially okay if somebody would train him up. Djourou, yeah right. What a motley crew. Four average, solid defenders could make a huge difference. But to sign somebody would mean getting rid of somebody, won't happen.
I believe Russell Martin has quality, yes.
Chris Martin?
We do not like to mingle with pop stars.
But he is also on loan to Swindon, so there is no movement.
Coldplay? They have shown they can play at the emirates. But people lack a bit patience. People say Coldplay, and you must say, but we already have Green Day who can play there. And do not forget Muse, who are very interesting.
Shocking defending and shocking jokes today.
So anyway I saw Arsene Wenger on the way to the bottle bank....
His words:

"We have looked at Holtby, yes," said Wenger. "We have played against him, and our scouts are kept on alert and the quality of our scouting is linked with that."
Sounds like the scouts fell asleep.
I worry that our scouting system is average these days.
Sometimes I wonder. . .its not even that our scouting system is necessarily shit. . .I mean we seem to be lonked with/have our eye on a lot of players that ultimately go to another club.
For example Holtby, now he may not have been a major miss (my words, which I was shot down for btw) but from what little I have seen of him, I know he is a damm sight better than Ramzi! so a miss.
Then there is Ba, maybe not everyones first choice but if you expect a stream of ballon d'or nominees to grace our team, you are in for a shock. Ba is a proven goalscorer, direct, who can score from anywhere and cheap. . .maybe not tge best proponent of tippy tap but feck that shit. . .we need winners
And that is where we fall short as a team/club. . .we lack the winners mentality both on ans off the field, we way we play is reflected in the way we do business. We are scared to take a pot at goal in the same way we waste so much time securing deals, so much so we are often beaten to the chase by one our rivals when it comes to signing a player.
We may go for Villa but Ba was ready to play, is younger and will cost less. Its tge same story time and time again. Cahill, Dempsey. . .Parker (some say they are shit but compared to what we have been putting out. . .)
We need to show a wonning mentality in everything we do
Ba wasn't as cheap as you think.
But cheaper than Villa (who we are not going to get?) so who then? we loaned out Chamakh, Gerv is off (sigh of relief x2), if Walcott goes or gets injured we are left with Giroud and Pods who gets the nod as striker leaves a gap on the left, we are desperately shorthanded again. . .shit what was I thinking, I take it all back. . .we have Ramseu who dont forget can play there. . .
