We are are football club fallen into the hands of Corporate raiders who do not care about the history or ethos of the club as a winning enterprise they do not care a jot for the feelings of the fans and merely go through the motions each year to keep up the illusion of wanting to compete. they have done a simple cost/benefit analysis. spend 200m each year for a comfortable return of 250m. OR spend 300m for the risk of glory and a potential return of 400m. They have chosen the easier route.
The players can only stick with the project for so long. They see other clubs winning and want that feeling, just like the fans do. No talented player is going to risk a whole career with the only thing to show at the end is loyalty to Wenger. He calmly pockets 7m a year, probably 7 times what someone like laudrup gets and easily twice what 15 out of 20 managers in the EPL get. Yer he preaches frugality at every opportunity.
