When you're trying to buy super super quality it is difficult because the selling club don't want to sell and other clubs are inevitably interested in the player.

Sure, we are going for top tier players but if we don't sign them then what's the point?

I accept that signing top tier players is more complicated but we're getting extremely close to the season kick off and as it stands the team that finished at Newcastle is going to be our starting XI.

Signing top tier players in the last few weeks let alone last day of the Window is pretty much a "no no", selling clubs want replacements lined up and assurances that they can replace their star players.

I'm pretty sure if we don't make any major moves in the next few weeks then that's it, we're stuck with what we have.

There is 0% chance we won't sign players.

I think we will too, but do you have faith that they'll be top bracket, ready to go, capapble of pushing us towards the title, signings?

That's what is worrying and frustrating.

We have the basis of a squad that can win the league, with two or three top quality signings. If the money is there, I just don't get why we aren't going for it.

I would love to be patient, but I think given seasons past, it's not inconceivable that we will again fail to add quality and depth when and where it is blindingly obvious we need to.

Yep, exactly how I feel LDG. I'll be honest, I'd rather us not sign anyone than go rummaging around the "bargain bin" in Ligue One on deadline day.

I don't want anymore "squad fillers" or "development players" paraded as proper signings.

Hopefully we've got a few other targets because I'm worried if we don't get Suarez we could revert to type and bring in some average players who won't really do anything to improve the team.

From Wenger's interview, it sounds as if we're not close to signing anyone and he's fine with that. He's going for the long gamble again.

I doubt it personally, it's not the 1st time we've chased one player only to fail and have no backup plan.

Technically isn't Suarez our backup to Higuain?

It's starting to get a bit worrying now, it's gone quiet again. I guess we will know more on both Suarez amd fabregas by end of the week, judging by some reports. It's getting concerning but hopefully club will still pull the big deals off. I know window shuts in September but we want players for beginning of season but I'm at a point where I don't care when, I just want them be it deadline day or tomorrow.

I think we're genuinely trying to sign some proper quality this year, whether we will or not...
I don't buy NQ's bollox about us 'pretending' to in order to appease the fans because
a) It's not working and
b) If they don't sign anyone of note people will only be more pissed off, a half arsed "well, we tried" isn't going to cut it and they know it.
