1) We need a striker badly
2) We don't need 2nd rate has been's or cheap nobodies
If anything is going to change we have to stop signing these rubbish stop gap's who fill up the squad and can't be got rid of. I hope Wenger doesn't sign a new contract if this is his idea of improving the team/squad.
Weren't there any Stoke or Watford targets we could have gazumped? We have to go even lower and buy this shit? Welcome to Arsenal, now get the fuck out of here.Quote:
Kallstrom?
Seriously though, it's not the player's fault Wenger is like this. Sad that the fans will welcome him with folded arms but this is like icing the Ozil cake with horse manure and asking people to like it.
Wenger! We thought you had changed FFS!
Wenger seems to not mind the club increasing his pay on his next contract though.
Stop being a stingy penny pincher ffs
So because we've been unlucky with injuries, you want us to bring in new starters? What when Walcott and Ramsey is back, then what? sell the 20-30m signings we just brought in 6 months earlier? We already got plenty of covers on the wings, so makes no sense bringing in a new winger. We have Wilshere to cover #8 and Flamini/Arteta for #6, but with Flamini's suspension and Wilshere unsure for next match, it makes sense bringing in a guy who can cover both positions for the next 6 months. We got Vermelean to cover defence, you wont find a better back-up than that.
Stop thinking this is football manager and start thinking realistic.
Realistic is not bringing in stop gap journeymen that will sit on the books once the first team is alive again. Realistic is bringing in some competition for the first team so the whole team improves in general. We had no problem getting Ozil on the pitch even though we were overloaded with midfielders. Anyway, all our players are always injured so we need to buy twenty midfielders in this window, and thirty strikers.
What happened with Matuidi? Too expensive?
Isn't there someone in the PL we could have bought for CDM!?
FFS
Has Wenger smiled at all today? Just one little smile?
I think you guys dont know enough about Kim Kallstrom. Since im from Denmark, i know quite a bit about scandinavian players and i've always rated him as a top player. Tbh i think he's on Arteta/Flamini level (they're 3 different players tho'), yes i think we should bring in a top holding midfielder, who can start ahead of Arteta and Flamini, but its not going to happend in this window. Kim Kallstrom is as good as we can get when it comes to good enough rotation/back-up.
At the very least go in again for Lars Bender.
He's not fit, has no EPL experience and wasn't exactly first choice at spartak.
Another squillachi imo.
The signing of a stop gap midfielder is concerning as it means Ramsey is out for longer than first thought which is a big worry for me and ditto re: Wilshere.
But we are still to address our problem position which is up front. I have no idea why Wenger doesn't trust Podolski. But our season will be shot with an injury to Giroud.
Really upset about Draxler especially because in summer in my opinion Arsenal are much weaker position to attract if we don't manage to win anything this year and see our season collapse.
Given that all our targets seem to have gone elsewhere - Costa for Chelsea and Grizemann eyed by Chelsea - seems all our targets will be taken by other teams.
Given that we are seeing City and Chelsea strengthen, I have a feeling by the end of today all our good will towards AW is going to start eroding especially with knowledge that there is money available.
Seems United are hellbent on going for the top Germans like Kroos and Reus.
Suddenly we are back on a possibly downward spiral.
I'll give them till end of today and reevaluate but it is concerning
Won't be funny when it does though. The Spuds, Liverpool, Everton all with managers that want to spend to improve their squads, Everton potential new Billionaire owners. City, Chelsea & Utd will spend big as always so my point is that under Wenger it wont be long before the Europa spot battle commences
Even if he is on Arteta/ Flamini's level - we've already done the Flamini signing. Why do we need another Flamini? We need a striker, desperately. Not just a crappy striker either, but somebody who can push us on and make us competitive in the run-in.
Basically fuck it if we sign this bloke. He does absolutely nothing for us.
@wayneveysey
After Ramsey blow, 1-choice #AFC target was Matuidi, who is extending PSG deal. 2 -choice Schneiderlin deemed too expensive. So, Kallstrom.

BBC website "Arsenal to miss out on Schalke's Julian Drexler with Man City, Chealsea & United ready to bid for him in the summer" - FFS for the sake of £7 mill we hand another world class player over to our rivals - Wenger in the transfer market, it really is pathetic.
@AFCWimbledon
Transfer update: A car just parked outside. If it belongs to a player he is probably in our price range

But we're not signing this guy, he's being brought in because with the Flamini suspension and Ramsey injuried for longer time than expected, we're suddenly missing 2 players going into a tough run of games. This loan deal is just cover, because there is no other players available, i trust Wenger in bringing in the best players available right now and i have no doubt he will go for a top holding midfielder in the summer, considering arteta is getting to old and Flamini was always going to be back-up.
But who would you sign as a striker? Berbatov and Vucinic who alot of people in here wanted, are on level with Bendtner and are probably even more lazy and has worse discipline, that we have hated Bendtner for. I dont really see any other available strikers right now, unless we pay out Chelsea/City silly money and we all know, that is not going to happend. Hell, Chelsea need a striker even more than us and they havent even signed a new striker.
It will depend on Draxler's performances in the WC I suppose. If he plays well then we are out of the hunt. If we won't pay now then we won't pay more in the summer. Plus the player wants to come here and basically we've told him he isn't worth it. Not very endearing. I guess the player will be looking elsewhere come the summer. It's a lot of money and therefore a risk, can't 100% blame Wenger for being wary. But how he goes from wavering on a potentially world class youngster to settling for a Swedish OAP is amazing. If we had £30mill ready for Draxler why couldn't we find any alternatives who could genuinely move us forward?
It's a loan deal? That's better I suppose, at least we won't be stuck with him. So Wenger's approach to really kicking on and challenging for the title is to get an Elastoplast and slap it in the midfield? Apparently we had £70mill to spend in the summer. We spent £42mill, good stuff, thank fuck for that at least. What happened to the rest of the money?
No, not clapped out shite like Berbatov or nothing players like Vucinic. We need a statement of intent to re-energise the squad for what will be a tough run-in. We have the money, whay not show a bit of ambition and go for it? We aren't city you know, we have waited 10 years to make a challenge. It's not like we are asking to spunk cash all over the place. You average out the spend over 10 years and in realistic terms we've done almost fuck all.
We were never going to sign a new starter in midfield, Arteta is basically our captain (since verm never plays). If its going to happend, its maybe going to happend in the summer, depends if Wenger still think he is good enough or not. I would love to get a new striker in, so would Wenger. But i still think its should be for proper money and in the January window you're never going to get a top striker unless you want to pay 50m for Torres :)
Someone get Swanson an umbrella.
:tumbleweed: (TM)
Wenger hates spending money he wants to do what he always does by relying on youth and taking the credit, but the problem is his mind set is stuck ten years in the past. Our academy system is producing shit and the likes of Draxler who Wenger could sign for 2-3 million ten years ago now costs 30 million which makes him sulk because he can't take the credit for polishing a gem the way he used to. And the players who he can sign for an equivalent amount are shit like Sanogo, so Wengers bolt hole doesn't work and he would rather bash his head against a wall rather than accept the reality of the situation.
Mitroglou signs for Fulham say SSN.
Fat Sam. :haha:
Out-tacticed again.
