Oh give it up Channel 5, it's obvious why it was disallowed.

Terrible freekick from Bale.
Spuds 1-2 PAOK, FT.
:haha:
Spuds :pal:
Spuds :haha:.
Couldn't beat the 10-man pub team even with the help of a corrupt referee.
PAOK .
Spuds :haha:.
Glory Glory time, Maccy do the honurs
I'm busy on another thread!
Sperz.
Spuds more or less out.
Further to what I said about coefficients, they aren't even in the top 25 currently.
:haha: Spurs, should have taken the comp more seriously.
After a quiet November, December could be another mental month for Charlie.
Europa League is not a very good tournament. Effectively a prize for being 17th best. Though in the Carling Cup you have sides like Blackburn 'forfeiting' (their manager's not-so-wisely chosen words) the game.
Wilshere has been WUMming tonight.

Nothing better on a wednesday night than a stir fry and watching the spurs get beat at the lane! #loveit

Yeah but like I say, doing shit it in affects your ability to get a favourable draw in the Champions League. And in Tottenham's case, getting back in to the Champions League is clearly their aim. I think Champions League drop out teams do help the quality of it - especially as it could be three English clubs this time. Plus there are teams like Atleti and Udinese in it currently - and those teams do care about it.
Blackburn doing it is a bit stupid when you need to keep your job but it doesn't directly impinge on your other aims.
The problem with the tournament, for me, isn't that it exists in the first place; it's more the structure of it and when the games take place.
Bring back the cup winners cup tbh, let all the dross play in that and make the Europa league for better teams. tbf its too may games with shite teams, its a bore till the Semi final no one wants to watch a comp like that.
As for Blackburn all the bottom teams in the EPL seem to do that because they want to focus on the EPL, QPR did the same thing too. its silly just don't know why they don't try their luck tbh.
But the media only pick on us when we play kids and we get told have we could have won the cup if we played a stonger team and all that.
Thats stupid though, i mean its a trophy as we keep being told by those twits Gough and Durham. Like you say if they won it and got in the Cl they would get a better draw.
It seems to me they think they are too big for it which is silly, the Likes of Gallas seemed like they were not trying hard tonight. If that was us we'd accused of being Arrogant.
There's a definite trade-off...most teams in the premier league don't play their best teams. That's not to say they don't value it in other ways - e.g. what better opportunities would we have to see Frimpong or Oxlade test themselves against experience in a competitive fixture. But I get the feeling if there was a vote tomorrow, most clubs out of the 20 would be in favour of scrapping the competition. As far as I know, most foreign leagues only have one domestic competition. But on the other hand, lower league clubs can make a lot of money out of it and probably value the Carling Cup a lot, and you have to respect that.
If we're in it next year, I fully expect Vinger to play a CC team, maybe even ticket prices would be reduced for it.
Shite ass competition.
I deffo think its a good comp and its good to blood the youngsters its something we have always done under AW and always will. And im sure if the other top teams had youth players as good as ours they would too.
Maybe the CC should be a comp where you can choose to play in it or not that way, it will mean something with teams who want to be in it. The early rounds seem to be the best like you say the lower league teams go for it and you can tell they enjoy themselves.
MO, I'd rather we would go for it really. It's odd that the competition is only derided so much over here. The bloated nature of it, doesn't help it - granted.
I think my interest being as fickle as it is, would increase if we got to the latter stages, like the CC. I just don't really rate it as a competition, but I suspect taking being in the CL for granted has warped my perception of it. I do think the club would treat it as a European CC though.
Same with all gooners though, I think we'd have a right to feel we are too good for it as we have been in the Cl for ages but clubs like City and Spurs, who don't really have a bond with the CL should be greatful when they get in it.
However if we got it it like maccy saud we should try and go for it its a trophy after all. and how far would you play the kids up too?

Head-to-head records.
Man City are 6-5 Favs to win the comp say the bookies.
Even if they were it'd be a bit stupid because they aren't likely to play their main team in it.
