Fuck me, the absolute meltdown from Tony Adam’s comments on social media

No one is obliged to agree with him. I can see it both ways…..I think Rice would make a far better captain but equally the role of Captain isn’t as relevant as it was in Adam’s day. I mainly want to see Odegaard stripped of the captaincy because I don’t want to see him playing at all

People calling Adams a drunk, a few Nigerian sounding lads saying “he isn’t a club legend”. Sorry guys Arsenal pre-dates 2019 when WiFi first came to your village….he most definitely is a club legend.

I actually think we can make the argument that a Captain still is an important role in the team.

I do agree that AW is largely to blame for why some of our fans don't think a proper leader on the field is important.

As far as I'm concerned, the last good captain we had was Vieira and since then its mostly been downhill, which can obviously be seen from our fortunes and how the team has reacted to adversity over and over again

Let's not forget that we once had a captain under him who staged a one man protest while the game was still going on!! 20 years later, I'm not sure anything has come close to that :lol:

I don’t think so. First off it wasn’t that Wenger didn’t make leaders into captains (Koscielny was captain in his last season and he was the nearest thing we had to a leader) it’s just we didn’t have leaders in the team

Plus Messi was Captain of Argentina, couldn’t find less of a leader

Same with Ronaldo (although admittedly that’s harming Portugal now)
