Which is why We wanted a perm deal if reports are belived to be true, which would have made more sense if they want all that money for a loan.

Assuming it is £8-10m of course.
I've seen an equal number saying £2m fee plus the wages, which would probably be at about 40 weeks so ~£3-4m.
In other words, nobody knows the details.
We didn't want a permanent deal, we wanted an option to buy at the end of the loan. The problem seems to be that Liverpool were willing to pay a greater proportion of his wages, which seems feasible given that we're notoriously stingy when it comes to wages. Remember Arteta had to take a wage CUT to come to Arsenal.
From being a decent summer, suddenly it's becoming an average one. I'm pleased with the signings we've made, however having sold 2 first teamers including the guy who basically carried the team last season and was our best player our need for a couple more signings is pretty high.
Not long left to sort things out and it's very feasible we could end up with noone else which would be a massive disappointment and would leave us almost where we were last season
Sahin may not have been available on the terms we wanted, but couldn't we have found this out at the start rather than hanging around for so long?
Nope. We should never negotiate!
Never said he was, i said we may as well have bought him as in tried too.
Not oringialy but there were sources Wenger wanted him on a perm deal and he never wanted to leave madrid and this is where the money stuff came into it but like i said souces and not (AFC Camden either).
Cesc took a pay cut to leave us whats your point.Quote:

BBC and Sky Sports claiming it was Arsenal's decision to call it off. I find it very difficult to believe otherwise. Fair enough. Whatever the reason may or may not have been. Move on kids.
I watched a Youtube compilation for this and everything.
Me too ffs ^^.
I thought we were getting Sahin to cover for Wilshere until he returned to full fitness/form, which could take half a year. It would have been better to have the option to buy at the end of it but if not we're covered for creativity with Wilshere/Cazorla/AOC anyways so I don't see why we didn't just take Sahin on loan, especially if it was only 6M.
I hope Wenger has other options because if we don't sign anyone else it will not have been a positive summer.
No. We just don't get mugged up. We don't have the luxury of throwing whatever we like at it.
Look at RM and Modric. Is there any difference there?
It happens everywhere, bar the clubs that have money they can just chuck at it with no consequence.
The smaller clubs deals you say?? Well, we don't hear anything about them until they're almost complete, because Sky and every other sensationalist media whore out there can't be fucked to report every single sodding tweet, quote, google translated foriegn paper, blogging, my mate told me, fucking piece of bullshit out there....because it's no news. Small fry.
It could be anything. e.g. Arsenal tried to put in some sort of clause giving them first option/fixed price to buy which was unsuccessful. If they'd just gone with a loan and he had a great season, the pointed fingers would be at Arsenal for supposedly not negotiating such a clause when City come in with £££. Or maybe Liverpool are paying more wages (another speculative scenario). Or maybe Sahin's a Liverpool fan :pal:. Anyway, point is there is very little we know for sure. Still a window of opportunity to sign someone else. Too much flavour of the month stuff anyway...wasn't M'Vila the chosen one like, three weeks ago?
The waiting period starts here

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the club hope to complete the loan signing of Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin within the next 24 hours.
The Turkey international is expected to undergo a medical at the club's Melwood training ground on Friday, after terms were agreed over a season-long switch.
"We hope that will be complete. I believe from the club that everything has been organised and sorted in terms of paperwork. So we're hoping in the next 24 hours it can be done," Rodgers told reporters.
The Reds were previously believed to have given up hope of signing Sahin, following reported interest from Arsenal and the Madrid man's preference for a Champions League club.
However, it appears a last-minute change of heart from Gunners boss Arsene Wenger regarding a permanent deal at a later date has swung negotiations in the Merseyside outfit's favour.
And Rodgers praised his latest acquisition, adding: "He's a great technician. He was the player of the season in Germany and was the captain of [Borussia] Dortmund.
"[He] was fantastic at a very young age and got a move to Real Madrid and obviously through injury it hasn't quite worked out for him.
"He's a wonderful player technically and tactically, he understands the game and we hope that his extra bit of quality coming in will really help the group."
Wenger

Ok
Just get Fellaini tbh.
He'd cost more than what we are willing to pay
4 years left on his contract - easily £25-30m
5m loan fee still being quoted, and no buy clause :haha:
Totally agree although I think we may have been more inclined to do this had Real been willing to make the deal perm at end of season. Even having said that, that would then make the transfer in the region of £25m in total. I guess Wenger has quite rightly looked at this and thought that £25m total cost for securing his services is not a great deal and feels that he can do better elsewhere......MVila for £10m less or something. The only point at which I will be disspointed about all of this is if we now dont secure the services of someone else instead - that would of course be a step backwards.
Sahin is hardly the player we need anyway.
We need a Song replacement and he wasnt it really.
We dont need quality players?
Or you'd rather we have Ramsey and Diaby?
We have Cazorla Arteta and Ox who can play in that position. These are very good players who can play there and we also have Wilshere. Diaby and Ramsey are shit. If anything, we need a DM if we are to continue playing 3 in the middle. Coq can do that job but some other DM like Tiote would be better. Sahin is just going to be playing a similar role to Arteta, Cazorla and Ox..
If we switch to a 4-4-2 then I think we are more than packed in CM. Mind you, all the players here have PL experience.. why go for Sahin when we need cover in the full back positions and on the wings (assuming theo leaves)?
Sahin is a deep lying playmaker. That isnt Cazorlas position nor is it anywhere near AOCs either.
It is Arteta but Sahin unlike our lovable Spaniard is actually pretty good at it so a no brainer really.
You sound a lot like Wenger by justifying not bringing in better players cos we have players already there.
In that case we dont need a full back either
