Damn!! This is sexy stuff.
:scarf:
Yet more proof that we've got lots of good players and don't need to sign decent players from the French league. We need only sign world class players. No point in just making signings for the sake of it.
I don't really agree but am glad it worked out tonight. I think his strengths are direct running and playing through-balls more than anything else. When playing deep, he'll find himself in pressure positions against better teams where there isn't an out-ball and it's not his game to deal with that.
A few minutes before kick off it was half empty (or half full...).
By a few minutes in it was pretty much full. There were plenty of empty seats but there were still about 55,000 in there I reckon.
If I have one minor grumble (and I do) it's we do lack a bit of ruthlessness sometimes, we could have made it a real humiliation but we took our foot off the gas a bit and let them off the hook.
Overall though, very pleasing tonight. Felt hard done by to be 1-0 down with what was West Ham's first serious attempt. Had it stayed 1-0 for long we might have struggled but cracking goal from Podolski and we came out with real intent in the 2nd half. Great performance, much needed win. If we could just get some consistency we'd be a really good team. We can do it, we just don't. Not often enough anyway. Sagna was loads better tonight and just generally the effort and desire in the 2nd half is what we should be expecting every game.
It*'s on :cool:
* - the 4th place trophy, I mean.
We did win 5-1 though, that's a pretty good result and a thrashing by all intents and purposes.
My comments about the seats was based on the highlights on Sky where they commented they'd not seen so many empty seats at Arsenal.
The number of empty seats is certainly creeping up but it wasn't an embarrassingly low attendance as it looked to be around kick off. It was a thrashing and at times we played some great football. Frustrating we can't do it more often.
