Once again we have a player wondering why he hasn't been offered a new deal yet he's seen big contracts offered to Gibbs, Wilshere and Ramsey whilst he's been made to wait. Ramsey has signed two contracts in the time that Sagna has been waiting for an offer. Wenger has been weighing up whether he wants to keep him and that's the only conclusion I can draw from this situation. He's offered contracts to the young players even though there is no danger of them leaving but dragged his feet on this deal with Sagna. Even when he's finally come to the table he's offered him the same wages as he's currently on, if reports are true. 60K! He's been on those sort of wages since joining whilst new signings like Arteta, Podolski and Giroud are earning more than him even though he's been with the club longer.
This club needs to learn from past mistakes and stop rubbing players the wrong way when it's uncalled for. We've seen it with several players, including Theo and we can go as far back as Bergkamp with the rolling contract fiasco. One summer Bergkamp didn't even know if he had played his final game for Arsenal. That's pretty shabby.
Some fans are stuck in a loop when it comes to these sort of things, never learn from past mistakes and connect the dots. We culled experience from our squad way to early thinking the youth was the way only to learn that we needed the older players to guide them when things were rough. We're seeing the same sort of thing this season and your busy counting the clubs money as if we have a history of investing the money back into the squad. Around 2008, I heard the same sort of talk regarding Flamini and now the guy is back in our squad with everyone cheering him on. It's not wroth losing a valued player over this.
