Verm is vice-captain so by definition he should be promoted when RVP fucks off.
If there is any chance Wilshere could make it back by September, fit and fine, I'd give him the captaincy. I think it'd help his game and it'd mean a lot to him.
If he is dead, give it to Sagna.

you need a player who is adept at their job or they will garner no respect.
so that completely rules out vermalean and chesney.
What about Koscielny or Mertesacker?
