Rafa is a good manager. If he took that job and screwed up though - potentially three big pay-offs in no time at all. S'ralan would be proud of that.

Seriously, this was so clearly coming as to be a non-event. But equally clear - to me at least, is that this is an awful decision. AVB was trying the right things yet was undermined at every turn. For a sustainable improvement to be made, those undermining him should have been the ones sacked. It would have been short term pain for long term gain.

I'm fairly sure the remit AVB was given is that he would be allowed to rebuild the team and move players on but the Untouchables won't allow that to happen.
