Just saw the result and proud we went down fighting, sounds like we were a RvP miss away from getting a result. . .

Read the first three pages of this thread. . . .people all fire and brimstone at RvP and Wenger. . .ummm hello

RvP has been an absolute legend this season, has scored close to 30 goals (may even be 30 goals now) this season, won us the game against 'pool and still people get at him like he is public enemy #1 - now I havent seen his miss and it sounds like he tried the extravagant way rather than the simple and I am sure I will shoot myself in the face when I see it but FFS- he is no cu#t!

As for Wenger, it is not his fault either, I agree that his days are numbered and that the bench may not inspire thoughts of obvious glory if used but nothing is guarenteed, even if we had Messi, Ronaldo and Eboue to bring on , we still may never have got the goals we needed. . ,
the striket options are weak but get over it. . .cos it aint going to change this season, and we can only hope it will next, with or without Wenger at the helm.

The lads won 3:nil shame we couldnt get what we wanted, I would have been spunking on my weetabix if we had. . .but I applaud the team bit let it be a lesson to not put in tge kind of kak shift they did in Milan

I don't know why there is a focus on RVP's miss. It certainly wasn't close to being the first thing that popped into my head after the final whistle. He didn't take that chance but he's not the reason we went out. A lot of close shaves and errors in the game. The first leg had a catalogue of them from our perspective.

And 'arrogance' wasn't the reason he missed that chance. He obviously felt the goalkeeper would react differently than he did and he instinctively did whatever he felt gives him the best chance of scoring. Just because he went for the dink doesn't mean it was arrogance. That's a rather primitive way of looking at it. It was the wrong choice, yes, but if you honestly think he purposely picked that wrong choice because he thought he could pull off a more extravagant finish, you're more wrong than the shot selection itself.

Syn mate, it may be the only way some can look at it considering that a fair few on GW either live in a cave or dine on raw meat!

Joker no doubt thinks RvPs miss is another example of him not turning up for big games!

It was a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, difficult to stomach, and I had trouble sleeping

We made the aggregate scoreline look respectable, so well done on that. However, let's not pretend this is a win. The players have to learn from such abject performances away from home in the CL.

RvP's miss in the 2nd half- I think a little too much is being made of it. I think he may even have been offside in as soon as Gervinho struck the ball first time around and I'm pretty sure, if the officiating on the night was anything to go by, that the linesman would've raised his flag had the ball nestled in the net.

Having seen the chance again he was quite close to the keeper and would have had to swiftly adjust his footing to slot it either side. It was quite instinctive to go for the chip but those are the fine margins you deal with, it's just one of those things. He probably should've scored but I can think of 32 reasons why having a go at RVP is dumb.

I hope there is no lasting effect and we don't see the collapse™ MKII. We've still got to cement 4th and the Old Boys will probably want to prove a point now AVB is gone.

This club is so much better than a solitary 4th place challenge, hopefully if we can get 4th we remain attractive for a new a manager in the summer.

we were awesome in the first half but the change in tactics and the lack of running in our legs killed jthe second off pretty quickly, and we still could of won it had that chance gone in.

Would have loved Park to come on and score as well that would of been awesome. Theo still has a considerable amount of work to do on his decision making and the ref was a wanker.

Great night though, we beat the Italian champions 3-0 at home!!
