March 2012 will go down as a perfect month for Arsenal - well, almost.
It ended on a low note with that surprise defeat at Queens Park Rangers but, prior to the final day of month, Arsenal were magnificent in March.
They saw off five tough opponents, completed their best Premier League winning streak since 2007 and surged up the table to challenge Tottenham for third place. Not bad for a team that started September in 17th.
Robin van Persie got the ball rolling with a brace at Liverpool, including a stunning volley to win the game. Tomas Rosicky was among the goals as AC Milan were put under the cosh at Emirates Stadium. And Thomas Vermaelen's last-gasp strike defeated Newcastle at the same venue.
Having come from behind to win four consecutive league games, Arsenal led from the front in their next two: Vermaelen was the match winner once more at Everton and Mikel Arteta scored the pick of three goals against Aston Villa.
The less said about Loftus Road the better, but all in all March was a month to remember. And there are a number of contenders for our official Club prize..
Wojciech Szczesny was outstanding at Anfield, full backs Bacary Sagna and Kieran Gibbs showed Arsenal what they had been missing, Vermaelen was a huge influence, Alex Song and Arteta ran the midfield and Theo Walcott was back to his brilliant best.
