The optimist in me says this is because we have learnt from last seasons debacle and got our business done early so we can concentrate on getting rid of all this accumulated shite we have in the reserves.

The pesimist says its because season ticket renewal is up and numbers are well down...

interestingly this means a couple of things:
- more quality squad depth. we now have ox, theo, gerv, podolski and even rosicky who can play out wide. its a massive upgrade on benayoun who will be leaving at the end of the season.
- may mean theo gets played up front. with ox growing in confidence, he'll make a stake for a first team place. theo can be played up top to give rvp a rest. after all wenger said theo will always be a striker.
- signings like this will persuade RVP to stay.
- more versatility. podolski can play up top and LW. so when we go into the final games of next season we can rest RVP instead of playing him when he's clearly fatigued (which is what we are doing now).
- more experience - been at WC's etc.

Good thing about the player he seems to want to play for the club too not just for the money i mean were not even in the CL yet and he has signed.

Like you said good start but we need to get rid of deadwood and add more quality.
