Seeing other clubs spend money whilst we sit seemingly idle in the transfer market is very sad to be honest, the fact is other teams are showing that winning matters to them whilst we're showing that having a positive bank balance matters to us.

You might argue we're morally superior (though I'd say shafting the fans by charging them sky high season ticket prices whilst investing little is morally questionable) but where's the joy in having money in the bank? I'd much rather see a few top players come in and be excited to watch them play next season. Can't remember the last time I was excited about one of our signings to be honest.

In addition we seem to carry a whole lot of shite players, that not only increase our wage bill massively but that we don't seem to be able to get rid of, we offered them long term contracts without a 2nd thought and yet when it comes to our top players we argue about £5000 here and there, the transfer/contract side seems to be run by clowns to be honest, little that is done with regards this makes sense. A huge scouting network and yet we struggle to identify more than one player at a time.

Also, if we're in such a bad way with our finances, would it not make sense to keep our wage bill down and cut the number of players we have in our squad?
For sure, I think if we're all honest Wenger has made a bit of a mess of the squad in terms of the lack of quality when it comes to squad players and the high wage bill. It wouldn't be so bad if we had average players on low wages, unfortunately for us it's average players on high wages.

I see where you're coming from. I mean the last player who we all genuinely felt excited about was Arshavin, and when he actually started playing great ie the goal v Blackburn / Anfield, we all were saying look what money can get you and he gave us a much needed boost at the time.

I think our scouting system is also a bit shit compared to other teams. Wenger always says he will spend if he sees 'the talent for the right price' , why not nick Alan Carr's dad from Newcastle, where he's the head scout ? Eg Cisse/Cabaye both are worth atleast double what Newcastle paid. Grimandi worked in France and found us Sagna, who was great for £6million, but we haven't found a decent player since. Gervinho hasn't shined so far.

How can you gag people when this is a message board? If people have differing opinions so be it. I really don't understand the "snide" pack of wolves mentality when it comes to differing opinions. Especially when it's done sitting in front of a computer screen.

I don't think you understood what I meant as in 'gag'. It's the usual practice on here with many geeky in-jokes. It's not supposed to hurt in any case. I'm sure those 'crying about 'crying' can take it.

And btw, I have no problem with different opinions so long as they're not stupid.

    Ok I'll

Fairplay, but I still think it destroys any potentially interesting debate when you have a bunch of folks playing "internet hardman" if they don't agree with others opinion.

Yes I initially thought gag as in keep quiet, but it's gag as in joke. Maybe I don't post on here enough these days, but I never remembered it being like this a few years ago...maybe I'm too serious, I don't know, I just like to talk about Arsenal topics on the Arsenal FC debate page.
