http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...t-his-man.htmlBorn in Chambery, France in 1986, Giroud signed for his first team Grenoble at the age of 13. At 19, he earned a call-up to the Grenoble first team after impressing in the reserves with 15 goals in 15 matches. In 2006 he made his first team debut from the bench, but it wasn’t until the February of that season that he marked his first goal for the club, an injury time winner against Le Havre.
Giroud spent the 2007/08 season on loan with French third division side Istres, scoring 14 goals during the campaign, before being placed on the transfer list upon his return to Grenoble. He signed for Division Two side Tours FC in 2008, scoring 14 goals in 27 appearances to attract the attention of Ligue 1 side Montpellier two years later.
Having signed the player for 2 million Euros, Montpellier then loaned the striker back to Tours FC for the remainder of the 2010 season, where he finished as Division Two’s top goalscorer and was named in the league’s team of the year.
After a positive end to loan spell, Giroud made his club and European debut against Hungarian side Gyori ETO in the Europa League, scoring the club’s only goal of the competition as they were eliminated on penalties in the second leg.
In 2011 he helped his side to its first major final in seven years after scoring an extra-time winner in the Coupe de la Ligue semi-final match against Paris Saint Germain. He finished the campaign as the club’s top goalscorer and was rewarded with a contract extension until 2014, as well as a national team call-up in November for France’s friendly matches the United States and Belgium.
Giroud’s first international goal came in February 2012 in the 2-1 friendly win over Germany. He finished last season with 21 goals for Montpellier, helping to ensure the club’s first ever Ligue 1 title.
He now joins fellow France team-mates Laurent Koscielny and Bacary Sagna at Arsenal following a reported £13 million (€16 million) deal.

Some of Wenger's comments on Giroud
We'll that's just BS isn't it, he hasn't proved he is capable of performing at the top level for club and country, he's not played in a top league and has 1 goal in 9 games for France. He has proved that he is capable of performing at the top level with club and country, and we saw what a big influence he was in Montpellier's championship-winning side last season.

Hopefully he'll turn out to be very good, but Wenger's words are as usual inaccurate.
