But they are to an extent. We're going to sell him but we're going to at least make it seem as if we're prepared to let him see out his contract. Plus we're rejecting bids and now stories are circulating about his valuation. It's all speculation but it looks like we're looking for a bidding war t least.

I mean he's that type of player who everyone was raving about at one point, but the true mark of a top quality player is to be able to do it consistently. Johnson never managed it and was found at Everton, and the same is true with RVP. Okay, he was good from September to March of last season, but I'm sure if he goes to United or City, he'll be found out and will spend a lot of his time on the bench, because he can't hold a candle up to Rooney, Aguero, Balotelli, etc.

Van Persie is a top quality player. Injuries were the only reasons wasn't contributing good seasons before these past 18 months. The level he is at now isn't a purple patch but it is his true level. The only question mark I have is how many years (if any) he can stay at this level. People who say his game isn't based on pace and so he'll be fine don't really understand van persie's game at all. He needs to remain at his physical peak to keep banging in the goals. Nevertheless I hope we can keep him and I hope he signs a new contract.
