There are reasons for concern right now certainly but some of the comments are massive overstatements. IMO.

That's a relief, because his name sounds a bit like spastic. If we can't sign anyone decent we should at least sign players with good names and good haircuts, this is why I'm worried about Gervinho.

I've never seen Alverez, and I'm not so sure it's worth pumping loads of money into Gervinho.
Whilst I agree Arsene is tighter than a virgins pussy, I don't think advocating the spending of OTT amounts on unproven players is right either.
They're obviously targets of ours, but I expect there is a proce we're willing to pay.
Where we should be making an effort, and perhaps spending a little more, is on players such as Cahill, Hazzard, Mata etc. Proven quality which, although steep, is worth it in the long run.
