Yeah but it's not really a huge leap to say our haggling may have cost us players in the past. In fairness, it's probably true for many other clubs as well who don't want to pay OTT or may only have a certain budget to stick to.
I agree. But this is another stick that is used to beat the club with, on here, by some.
I'm sure there are plenty of clubs that do the same as us and dont sign players because they have their monetary limits so I don't see why we should be criticised for doing the same.

In the specific case of Alonso, it was daft of us not to pay a bit more. Instead we started that season with Denilson and Eboue in midfield.
