At least now, him and Poldi don`t have to kiss and make up. Lets get the Celtic chap Wayanma and be done with it. However wont he be cup tied for the CL games now?

Selling Song was a horrendous mistake.
Not sure about Dempsey and defensive responsibility. You play him as pretty much a forward/second-striker, he'll get 1 in 3. Not sure that's good enough for a side that is aiming to finish higher than 4th.
And you're reading Sahin all wrong. He is nothing like M'Vila. And he's not small and weak in terms of physical presence - in the same way someone like Cesc wasn't.
Forget about wages or a 'loan fee', I bet Arsenal's main problem was not having an option to buy. Having a young player run your team and then watching him leave to higher-paying clubs is something we're great at but just having them for a year takes the piss even for us. Loan signings are Benayoun and such squaddies. Sahin, by all accounts, is a quality, quality player. But I think we really wanted the option to buy which Madrid either don't want, or quite possibly, we haven't offered enough to buy him outright.
I just think Wenger wants this lad badly. And he'll want him permanently. We won't know the ins and outs, but I doubt we're gonna play ball if they want a massive fee for a loan, with no comeback for us afterwards.
It's better to burn out, than to fade away.
He probably will end up being sold next summer anyway.
Real Madrid.
Still a bit foolish.
i normally agree with you but not this time pal.
arteta, sahin + cazorla. where's the tackler? where's the physical presence? you could argue that we would have switched our tactics to ball retention but in the premier league that doesn't work because it's simply too physical. we tried ball retention tactics a couple of seasons ago but all we had where players having their legs snapped in half and the team losing points away to the likes of birmingham, sunderland and bolton.
if madrid wanted us to pay 70% wages (roughly 70k a week), a loan fee (£4m) and put a ridiculous buy out clause (£14m), then wenger did the right thing in pulling the plug on a player which would have cost £20m+ especially as he's a player we don't really need. he's a luxury not a necessity. we need a DM, someone who can tackle and has physical presence. we need a flamini, not a wilshere.
im hoping this wasn't the only viable option we were gunning for and that wenger is seeking alternatives now this has gone to bed, maybe it was a smokescreen to get the m'vila price lowered? we'll have to wait and see. alternatively, with wilshere back in training as little as 3 weeks away, was spending £20m on a player when we have bigger problems in other areas of the pitch a viable option? personally i think the answers no.
As long as we haven't given up looking for a midfielder, I don't think not signing Sahin is a huge loss. However, the worry is that we've again lost out due to not willing to pay the fees demanded by the selling/loaning club. Wenger is obsessed with value, and will never be willing to pay even a penny above any player's market valuation. This may seem reasonable, but if it results in us not getting another midfielder in before the close of the window, then we're in big trouble. Rosicky, Wilshere and Diaby have all suffered big injuries and it's unreasonable to rely on them. Frimpong is extremely inexperienced and raw, Coquelin the same. Please Arsene, don't let financial considerations stop you from ensuring our squad is well equipped for the coming season.
Another disappointing thing is how late we're leaving this. At the start a lot of fans were saying we should be making fuller use of our resources and complete our business early. Unfortunately, neither seems to be happening. We're probably going to end the summer with a negative net transfer expenditure, which doesn't suggest we're making full use of our financial resources at all.
