Werder Bremen centre-back Per Mertesacker has revealed he would be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in Mertesacker, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger yet to bolster the centre of his defence this summer.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old Germany international has entered the final 12 months of his contract, adding weight to speculation of an exit during the current transfer window.
"Obviously, from a certain perspective, the Premier League is a very tempting league to play in," he told FIFA's official website. "England is, alongside Spain, a better league than the Bundesliga and is made up of several top-class teams. This is very tempting.
"A move to a foreign country will always enrich a player from a sporting and from a human perspective. Playing in a foreign country makes you better, while living in a foreign country pushes you forward. Everyone tells you that all the time.
"Things experienced there are important in life, (although) a way back to Germany should hopefully never be ruled out."
