Never rated Gibbs as a defender but this season he has been very solid at the back. One-on-one, like most of our defenders bar Mertesacker, he's fantastic. Wenger likes his attacking LBs and defensive RBs. The left side is looking strong these days.

In fact I remember Gibbs playing for us in the inaugural Emirates cup as a winger and having an outstanding game there. Which means that either he is not a good fit as LB or he never was a great prospect at LW. Bottom line is every player SHOULD be able to do the basics. Cue Kosielny putting the ball in the back of the net yesterday. If that had been Gibbs he would have cut it back for someone else. Some on here would still maintain that he was outstanding as he is only supposed to defend. WTF are you doing in the opposition box if you can only defend????

Crossing or not, there is only one target to aim for and he cant even get a game at the moment. Offensively, Gibbs contributes a hell of a lot, and for a LB he does more than his fair share. He is improving all the time and runs more than anyone else. What a man!

why are we moaning about an defender not being great at attacking. its like moaning about a striker who is scoring goals not being good at defending. its stupid and pointless.

gibbs is a defender, he is playing in defence that has conceded only 2 goals in five games which suggests to me he is doing his job pretty fucking well given his first job is defend. why moan? or is it just moaning because you have to moan about something?
