That's is right, can't understand Wenger changing the pairing during this crunch time. Why not wait until Olympiacos next Wed?

Wenger's biggest mistake this season was making Vermaelen captain. You cannot win with a clown like that in your backline.

According to graham taylor on 5 live "I think Koscielney has come across the face of Mannone, in the arsenal goal"

Well its no wonder Chelsea scored.

Maybe Wenger was worried about the pace of the likes of Torres and Hazard being too much for Mertesacker. Even though it now looks stupid in hindsight, I can see the logic in this.

We need a consistent (and competent) back four.

Yeah, the logic is spot on. In hindsight, it didn't work out, but I can see why Kos was picked.

He has tragically passed away for an undisclosed amount of time. Ribery has killed him in training.

I suspected that Arteta would follow Szczesny into a grave this year but I guess the fact that it's a CB is probably better...as long as Vermaelen and Mertesacker stay fit.

    Internationals.

Still, it saves him from annihilating Cazorla I suppose.
