But Neymar has played 64 times for his club in the Brazilian league (where the quality of football is obviously higher than in Costa Rica), scoring one goal in two games. I agree that he is overpriced, but IMO it's unfair to compare the two.

@Younggunsblog Saprissa president Juan Carlos Rojas tells Costa Rican radio that Arsenal have agreed a deal for Joel Campbell. Campbell's agent has also put forward proposals from a number of other European clubs, so we'll have to wait and see.

In the last few minutes, Costa Rican radio station ADN Radio have interviewed the president of Deportivo Saprissa, Juan Carlos Rojas, who has confirmed that the club have reached an “agreement in principal” with Arsenal.

Rojas called it a “historic agreement” for Costa Rica and Saprissa, and said that whilst the club had been offered more money by other clubs, Arsenal’s stature made this the right move for Joel.

He finished by saying that assuming personal terms are agreed, a deal could be finalised in the next 24 hours.

I have no problem with buying youngsters with promise from less well known countries as there has to be a base of players coming through the ranks. The problem right now is to address the clearly obvious gaps in the senior squad with experienced, quality players.

Yes, I am stating the obvious and repeating what others have said but it cannot be repeated often enough.
