After watching the highlights without any emotion today , analyzing properly all the actions , I came up to this conclusion :

    1) We weren't outplayed as many are tempted to suggest .
    2) Apart from the first 15 min where we refuse to play , the game was kind of 50:50 .
    3) We conceded goals which were avoidable due to silly individual mistakes .
    4) We were too naive to stick by our " Arsenal way of playing " While it was obviously ineffective .
    5) By refusing to shoot from distance and thinking we will walk with the ball into the net prevent us from getting something in that game .
    6) we never learnt our lesson and accept to remain very predictable .
7 ) We had some few chances and refused to take them which was suicidal in such a big and important game .

Except for #'s 3 through 6, you are pretty much wrong. We were crap from the get go, out played and there was no 50:50 after 1st 15mins, as you're suggesting in points 1 and 2 respectively.

For vast propotions of the game, we couldn't get beyond our own half, while United had free reign our half, taking control of our 18yrd box at a whim. They effectively broke up our 3yrd tippy tappy by making sure Arteta, our main passer, was well marked by Rooney. Through all this, our manager never sought to make any adjustment to our game plan.

Only reason perons can be so emboldened to utter such naivity on here re: points 1 and 2, is because United were wasteful enough not to easily slot 6 past Mannone. They were never required to shift a gear upwards because of our pathetic display - a display that belies our standard even with the current composition of dross. Hence, they laclustrely handed us the defeat we were always consigned to.

You can dress it up however you like for effect - outplayed, battered, whatever, we were beaten comfortably and no one can honestly disagree with that.

It all depends on how you analyze the game action by action . Manchester United were efficient with their few actions they had but we weren't . The bottom line is our players have developed a kind a complex of inferiority to United which made them panic even before the kick-off . But I categorically refuse to accept United were outstanding . A sightly better team could have given them a game . They have their weaknesses especially at the back and we refused to exploit them .
A football game is about scoring goals to win it . When we still had RVP , we were totally outplayed by Liverpool but we scored more than them and got undeserved credit due to two superb Persie's goals .

No one is claiming that United were outstanding. They weren't required to be such but still managed to brush us aside like some team from 2 divisions down. Shows just how much of a barrel bottom scraping team we've become.

Oh how I wish for the day when we'll once again be seen as one of those "slightly better" teams to give them a game.

    We need our Arsenal back.

Exactly it's pretty clear to anyone who saw the match, no point burying your head an pretending it wasn't the case, some people insist on doing so though, it's just plain weird.

Ferguson was disappointed after winning which says it all, he felt they should have battered us...and the truth is they should as they were far superior even if they were nowhere near their best.

A scoreline of 4 or 5 nil wouldn't have flattered them. The gulf was embarrassing for a club of our supposed stature to be honest.

I agree with you mate . But we have also seen the dodgy side of United this season but they somehow get away with it . People talk about United beating us without even getting to the " second gear " . They don't have that " second gear" ATM . They have a luck of having an in-form and match winner striker who should have been in our side and unexplainably we decided to let him go to a main rival . We gifted United victory as simply as that . That is my point .

They surely had some chances that they missed and could have made the score more embarrassing but we had ours that we refused to take which could have changed some opinion had we had at least a draw .
