I'm surprised if he's going to bother with another contract. The move to the US signified the end of his footballing ambitions - it was all about becoming the biggest celebrity he could be. The best way to boost his profile now is to come back with some sort of role on TV (in the UK). But it's hard to find something to fit his image. He's above strictly come dancing or an x-factor judge, and the Gary Linekar type thing will be too uncool for him.
