Jack would've got destroyed in both fights.
Jack's such a little short arsed twat.
Love him.
He's our Dennis Wise but with about 100000000000% more ability.
Steven Reid has said the ref told him a pelanty was given because of the intent of his challenge.
i saw a bbc article on this, it said a ref can give a penalty if a player kicks or attempts to kick another player.
ried took a massive fucking swing at him so he can have no complaints over that one, even if santi dived.
also im loving how west brom are so angry about santi diving and every player seems to be saying its a disgrace, and the media lapping it up while ignoring the fact that one of their own players dived in our penalty area later on in the game
I didn't even mind Cazorla going down without the contact - because Reid did have a swing at him and it's clear Cazorla isn't liking the rough treatment recently. If he got straight back up and didn't try to claim a penalty, then he could at least say he was just looking to avoid a kick. But what counts against Cazorla is the way he rolled around clutching his shin after the dive. There's no real way to defend that.
As for the penalty decision - refs call. There doesn't need to be contact for the ref to give a foul (you can call a foul for dangerous play or obstruction) but I don't think either of those apply in this case. A bit silly for the ref to defend it - especially since nobody is blaming him as such.
I think that sounds like a dangerous precedent to award a penalty for an attempted challenge that makes no contact and would otherwise have gone completely unnoticed without the player falling over and pretending to be hurt.

The ref would do well to stfu, as no one is really putting him under the neon light here. No need for him to casts more focus on the piss poor officiating that dogs the league, by throwing in an unwarranted defence of his fuck up.
As for Santi, I would like to say that he was just carrying out an evasive manoeuvre after being kicked every week. But, his theatrical rolling about, while clutching his shin and grimacing like he'd been kicked in the balls, negates any form of defence that one might conjure up.
