14 goals and 10 assists in Theo's last 20 games for us.![]()
The quality of football was mostly atrocious, especially the first half. I suppose this is the norm for the PL now though.
Podolski was excellent all game, not just creating for others but being aggressive in pressing and winning the ball back.
With three goals and two assists, it's hard to criticise Walcott's output. Imagine how good he could be if he fine-tuned his touch and passing. When we're playing at a high energy level with direct, incisive passing, Theo is as dangerous as anyone in the League. His understanding with Giroud looks quite special too.
Ramsey's cameo was his best performance since he scored versus Portsmouth a few years ago.
Gibbs was really poor though. Santos-esque.

More life without Van Persie: at this stage last season we had more losses, more goals conceded, fewer goals scored, lower goal diff.

It's more complex than that. Newcastle had to play a high line to do their high tempo pressing game, Theo completely fucked that up. Granted, we could have done that with theo on the wings. But playing two Pacey players (theo and AOC) was far more effective most of the match - but then again I've never seen Guroud be so lethal in front of goal.
Great attacking performance. still believe theo is a winger, those were winger's goals rather then strikers goals imo. instant impact from giroud and was centimetres away from a hatrick too.
podolski seemed arsed today and it showed, jack after a howler in the wall, made up for it with a superb run for the third goal. thought vermaelen and kos did brilliantly with ba and cisse, jsut gibbs and sagna fucked up. chesney comands his area very well and gets crosses. needs to work on distriubtion though
Which is why we can't afford to lose him. I don't understand some people don't think he deserves to be among our highest earners at the club. Over the last 2 seasons he's been one of our most productive players and we don't have such an abundance of talent that we can be indifferent about him leaving.
Forgot to mention this. Yes, he did well.
He's awesome going forward though. He quickly covers a ridiculous amount of ground for our attacks. I'm not sure he's ever going to read the game well enough to become a Sagna-class fullback.Gibbs was really poor though. Santos-esque.
btw, the scoreline massively flattered Newcastle.
