    No, he was just asleep.

They all did. Sagna let that ex-utd dick get away too easy, Kos was indecisive when he could have stood up better (though i assume he was worried about putting it in his own net again), vermaelen was woefully out of position, causing gibbs to cover the spare man in the box, and no midfielder dropped in.

The main blame for me is on Sagna and Vermaelen.
It's better to burn out, than to fade away.

It was a bit of a shocker defensively. Already mentioned Sagna and Gibbs being poor. Didnt really notice Vermaelen today at all. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing and of course Kos who should have dealt with the cross when it rolled past his foot

    Mert is needed asap

Didn't watch the match (no ESPN) and haven't seen the highlights as I went to see the Hobbit (great film) but from the match thread we seem to play very well in the 2nd half and got an excellent result.

As I've always said pretty sure we'll get 4th place, but we'll need to improve the team to go beyond that, Walcott with more goals he's been pretty good up front this season, not RVP good (the guy got a ridiculous amount of goals last season) but very good nonetheless, but I reckon it's highly likely he'll be snapped up.

Defending was a mess but that was a very good team performance. Our attack looks a lot more clinical and dynamic when playing witha forward 3 rather than 4-5-1. Wenger needs to drop that now.

I thought it was an awful team performance. Defence and midfield were off. Cazorla and Arteta took the night off. Jack was anonymous for large parts because he wasn't getting touches of the ball and while he's putting pressure on the opposition everyone else is standing around and giving Newcastle plenty of space. Arteta needs to hold a bench and we need a new DM pronto because he can't play the anchor role in the middle. He's on his heels too much and when the defence are looking for passing options from the back he's pointing to someone else for the ball to go wide. He never comes looking for the ball and that's part of the reason why we're getting dominated in the middle because we're being forced down narrow channels. There is no cohesion between the three middle players. Maybe Jack needs to play deeper and play the pivot role because Arteta is slowing us down. When marked he never tries to loose his marker he just stays flat footed and points for the ball to be played anywhere as long as it's not played to him. He needs to go.

Jack even if marked will always stay on his heels and look for space and such movement at least creates space for others if you're being tightly marked. Standing in one spot and pointing to where the ball should be played while making no movement yourself is just plain lazy. The middle three have to be more fluid and move more because we have tougher games ahead of us and more lethal teams will punish us if we keep playing like that.

    What a load of rubbish.

Midfield and attack were excellent, bar maybe Cazorla who was a bit quiet.

Newcastle dominated possession in the first half which suggested there was a problem with the midfield. We improved in the 2nd, but even then Newcastle had more passes than us after around 70 minutes which is normally unthinkable at the Emirates. If we play like we did in the first half against better teams we'll be punished.
