Giroud has been here what, 8 months? He has scored more than Chamakh in his whole career for us.

I will agree he has missed some sitters but if there are complains that he does not make good runs, I am sorry but thats a whole load of bull! One thing he is very good at is making runs. If he had a Song or a Cesc around, he'd have scored more. Oh and not to forget, we have terrible crossers over the ball in our wings. Jenkinson is good but he is not half as good a defender as Sagna is.. so really, we are complaining that Giroud is not a Van Persie.. shocker! There is still time in the season and I wouldnt be surprised if he scored 20 goals. That many goals in the first season would put a lot of our other 'past great' strikers to shame.

No he hasn't. Chamakh got 11 before Xmas in his first season with us. Has hardly kicked a ball since. Giroud has 11 now I think and he's played much more

Chamakh has scored 14 his entire career for Arsenal and made 10 assists. Giroud has scored 11 already and made 9 assists in half a season.

Not that comparing him to Chamakh will make him a better player... he is just a better player with his runs and looks so much more positive than Chakma did. I have no doubt Chakma woudve turned out better had he a decent striker alongside him in a different formation but Giroud is miles above Chakma IMO.

For a first season in a new league Giroud's doing OK. But then Chamakh looked OK at first.
I do have more hope for Giroud as I think he's got more about him, and I like his song.

I can't believe anyone - even on a wumming mission would bother comparing Chamakh with any recent striker at this Club. Giroud has created much more in his spell here with a less talented team than Chamakh has in his entire career.

When Giroud misses chances, they are more notable, but only because of the relative scarcity of chances these days. I still remember Chamakh blowing stuff like running clear through on goal, stopping and trying (and failing) to pass it back.

To be fair, chamakh scored most of those in his first half season too.

Your right about the type of chances though.

Biggest pussy on the field I've ever seen. The guy was a coward in front of goal. But...he only had half a season with us really and then was forced out by RVP. His last outing for us, he looked decent and actually managed to score from outside of the box.

They're more notable because he has no composure, give him time to pick his spot he's likely to fluff it. His strength is making runs inside the box, most of his goals are very similar, with the chip against Coventry and the pot shot against Newcastle the exceptions. The rest are all headers and instinctive shots from successfully latching onto dangerous balls near the 6 yard box.
