Arsenal and Manchester City target Stevan Jovetic says he would relish a chance to play in England and "the strongest league in the world". The 23-year-old playmaker has scored 12 goals in 24 games in Serie A for Fiorentina this season.

Arsenal could be priced out of the race for Jovetic, with Fiorentina seeking more than £25m amid interest from Juventus and both Milan clubs.

The Gunners may attempt to sign England under-21 midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, 18, from Chelsea in the summer after being impressed by his performances on loan at Watford.

Fiorentina forward Jovetic flattered by Arsenal links

The 23-year-old forward insists Arsene Wenger's side are still "one of the biggest in Europe" - even after Robin van Persie's departure

Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic admits he is flattered by reports linking him with Arsenal and claims Arsene Wenger's side still remain "one of the biggest in Europe".

The 23-year-old, who will be in action for Montenegro against England on Tuesday evening, has netted 12 goals in 24 Serie A appearances this season.

Goal.com revealed earlier in March that Manchester City are currently in pole position to sign Jovetic having negotiated a first option on the forward, while Arsenal have also been reported as rival bidders.

“I’ve heard about Arsenal’s interest," Jovetic told The Sun. "It’s a big pleasure for me to be on the radar of such a big club. I am happy about that.

“I’ve always had an affinity with Arsenal. It’s a major club with a big tradition, one of the biggest in Europe."

“It’s not easy to replace Van Persie, who scored a lot of goals. Arsenal have plenty of players who don’t score like Van Persie, but are also very good."

Jovetic concedes he would be open to a move to the Premier League but admits his current focus remains with Fiorentina's Champions League push.

“They are still very strong. I often watch Premier League games on TV," he said.

"It’s one of the best leagues in the world and looks tempting for me.

“Maybe one day I will play there but I have a contract with Fiorentina and battling for a Champions League place in Serie A is the only thing I’m thinking about now.”
If this happens, Wenger will be forgiven for being so shit
