you're right ollie. another player should dictate terms to us again.
he's world class as well, so definitely worth it.
the point is, footballers are quick to open their mouth to the media about 'ambition' yet can you remember the last time they mentioned positions?
rooney didn't plan it out too well.
right so you would rather we went and spent 30 million on a defender just to make a point to kos when its not needed instead of spending it on a striker which would improve the team and we actually need?
no i would rather we made noises in that direction to put him back in his cage, or should we just let him engineer himself out?
and honestly, 30m is not being spent anywhere on one player this summer.
I don't know exactly what those quotes are supposed to be. Translated from French possibly as well you know with probably little bit special imagination. He says he is happy at Arsenal. He says he doesn't want to fight for 4th all the time. He says we must fight for the league. And, as footballers generally are, he is non-committal about his future beyond 'I am happy at Arsenal'.
In any case, it is not in his hands. He signed a contract last season and has over 3 years to run. We have a bit of money now. There is no need to sell. I am not surprised at all if Bayern Munich are interested. He is a top quality defender. We just needed to give him a good run of games and once he is settled he is fantastic. I don't think we can replace Koscielny for the £15m fee rumoured.
there's a video online where he is speaking to eurosport in french so i guess the press here have had a chance to translate directly. plenty of general footballer guff about desire for the club but most of those quotes question the club and really, he is no position at all to do it publicly, unless he wants a move.
wenger will always sell when a player demands it and says they are unhappy.
I don't speak French. But Arseblog and other sources are going with a different spin than some of the tabloids.
I don't think it's a big deal. We'll find out soon enough anyway. I am not going to be blaming players anyway (just as I didn't blame Van Persie as much as Wenger and the club). There is no need to sell Koscielny. We took a stand with Walcott over his contract situation and hopefully that is a sign of things to come - that we can force players to stay.Arseblog News has no doubt that the ‘I feel good at Arsenal’ line will be largely overlooked in the coming 48 hours with other publications focusing instead on the “Koscielny: Win me a trophy or I’m f*cking off” angle.
We’d urge everyone to chill out. The fact Laurent was being questioned by a bloke who insisted on pushing him to talk about PSG, despite there being no suggestion of such a move, underlines that everyone, both at home and abroad, is looking for a juicy headline. Moreover, what he has said makes perfect sense – the club does indeed need to win silverware and it’s going to need hungry players like Koscielny to do so.
