bullshit, he is as guilty of trying to get cheap options and save money. and whats stopping him when wenger leaves the room adding on more money to the bid? if he went behind wengers back and bought suarez for 50 million? would wenger refuse to play him? no of course not. its cowardly, pathetic and detestable the lengths gazidis is going to, to deflect blame off himself onto wenger
Come on now, dude, you're deflecting way too much attention away from Wenger. Before Gazidis and we sold Vieria, we were all crying out for a replacement but it never came. Wenger stuck to his guns and kept with Cesc and Flamini. I'm sure he felt some vindication after seeing how Cesc turned out and would probably argue he was right all along. But such decisions cost us Pires, Ljunberg and then Henry. This was all before Gazidis and all three were calling for more experience before the left. When we had a chance to win the title, the Eduardo leg break season, Wenger was acting as the Chief Exec. He chose not to strengthen in the winter, we blew the title lead and then we lose Hleb and Flamini. Whose at fault for that? There was no Gazidis or Stan plus Wenger was doing Dein's job!

It's time to see the light, dude. Wenger has gotten off far too lightly.

however, wenger will know we need a striker, he will also know we need to make a statement signing. well actually any signing almost right now. but the dithering? i dont think its just him, i think the board are dithering themselves too. i find it very convenient the days before the emirates is full again that stoires are being leaked taht gazidis wants to spend. gets blame off them when i think they are ditthering just like wenger
Ollie, seriously, please tell me this.

How is that a legitimate footballing decision as you said, we KNOW suarez would cost more but that counts for absolutely pointless if we are not willing to meet the valuation for him?

Why don't we just bid the 50 million that Suarez is valued at for Messi and Ronaldo?

The board being at odds with Wenget is something that could be true. Gazidis felt the urge to stick their neck on the line by shamelessly boasting about being in a position to spend big on players like Rooney, so if it is Wenget dithering they have grounds to be annoyed as they're being shown up.

However seeing as it's from ANR I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

Whatever the problem is, it's fairly clear that something at the top is very fucked up. This board and manager are made for each other, he seemingly has no desire to gamble and push the boat out for the team, while they are happy to give him a free reign because he's risk-free financially.

of course, a lot of this depends on whether we trust the board to bring in the right replacement but even so, at least there will be hope that things will change. also, you pointed out that wenger has been here longer than gazidis so perhaps the latter should bear the front of the protest, but our problems started long before gazidis came so maybe its wenger and not gazidis thats the problem? i mean you cant for one minute believe that ivan would give the speech he did at the beginning of the summer without honestly thinking we were going to alter our ways this year? he is well aware of the animosity towards him and the last thing he would want to do is add fire to the fuel by intentionally underspending.

so something has changed between the time of his speech and now, and without wanting to sound like a broken record, there's only one man the finger seems to point to (once again)..
Yep, I agree with that. I've been reading Le Grove and he says the same thing. There is no way he'd have personally met with all the bloggers to lie straight in their face. For once, the Le Grove writers are keeping a cool head and backing the club to make some major moves.

Wenger just isn't helping himself. He honestly believes the squad is good enough to win next year otherwise he wouldn't keep repeating it. If Gazidis was throwing him under a bus, surely he'd be smart enough to pick up on that and get ruthless? He knows how to deal with players that start giving him ultimatums and orders so I can't see why he'd play the lame duck role.

    What?

Owners and board who want to make money and don't care about football?

And a manager who cares deeply about football and loves the club, but believes in developing talent, and not spending money above excel spreadsheet formula value? But still makes them money!?!?!

Little bit unlucky combination for us fans

    All, the fact of the matter is our manager will not buy any players in the summer; The pre-season is almost at an end and the season kicks off in 2 weeks. If business was going to be done, it would of happened prior to the team going to Asia. Why would Wenger even think about securing Suarez when he's not even available to play until October, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. We have signed a free transfer for peanuts and that gentlemen is our lot. The man is a cretin and lives off from his past performances, he knows the board would never sack him for not spending and he is maintaining the targets agreed each season, which is champions league qualification. We can be on here naming 20 players but's not going to happen. I am hoping and praying one of two things happens this coming campaign;

    1. We lose in the champions league qualifier.
    2. Spurs finish above us and more importantly clinch 4th spot.

Yes there are those who say Man U haven't purchased any player, let's not kid ourselves that United are miles ahead of us, and they have quality players throughout the side, so really why should they strengthen when they'll walk away with the league again. people are reading too much in to this Moyes bollox, he's a very good manager and will deliver success to United with Man City and Chelsea playing the role of bridesmaids again.
