Perhaps they want to keep the player, perhaps they are serious about the contracts they sign, perhaps they want to challenge on the pitch and so are desperate to hang on to their best players rather than sell them to direct rivals?

Of course it did. We've made a pretty blatant attempt to prise the player out of the club by activating what we thought was a release contract, whether Liverpool wanted to sell or not. It's a shitty way to carry on, very typical of what goes on in the modern game but the club on the receiving end won't enjoy it much. We should know with all that tapping up Barcunt do to us.

Yes, it may be better for the game as some people are saying they are happy to see 'pool stand their ground.........it is a colossal amount of money especially for us but I don't think it would be a waste unless as you say he fu*ks off soon. They have extra time, he's sitting out until October. Plenty of time for him to come to his senses, even that utter cock Tevez played along in the end. And what message would it send to Madrid if he sulked the season away. I'm not sure this automatic assumption it is always best to sell an unsettled player is correct, I think it is correct for slimy agents but not necessarily for the clubs and the players. They both still need each other to a degree.

I never thought we'd get Suarez and I'm pretty happy about it because I don't want his sort :PHW: anywhere near the club.

We've screwed up this transfer window big time, not signing anyone and going after some muppet we were never going to get (and shouldn't go after in the 1st place), another job well done by the club and Wenger, we're basically never going to see this team improved enough to actually make any credible challenge for a trophy, we're stuck with watching 2nd rate players being told they have quality, spirit and togetherness and that they can win the title.
