I don't seriously believe that Liverpool would not sell him ie make a business decision based on emotion. We're talking about an American businessmen, billionaire in fact and an asset.
It's more likely they won't sell him to us because of the pragmatic idea that you don't sell to direct teams in the league but they and Rodgers have to weigh up whether that occuring with at least the possibility of being able to replace him is greater than keeping him and getting little to no performances out of him.
It won't be because we bid a £1 over 40 million. We still have to offer them in the region of £50 million though, just give them the decision to make and it's a no this time then leave it I guess.
