Of course they would, it's a nonsense to think otherwise. RVP didn't score for 2 months and they still won every game IIRC. Take out RVP and replace with Rooney and the outcome would have been the same.

RvP won the league buy the 2/3rds mark and then took a holiday. Simple as that. City were so shit last year we could have finished 2nd with RvP in the team. But he wasn't because we sold our best player and captain to Utd. Still incredible, scarcely believable.

Well no, you can't have too many world class players. That and the fact that Fergie hated Rooney so must have taken great delight in dropping him.
There's a reason why Mourinho and Chelsea ('mega bucks we can sign any player we want' Chelsea) want to sign Rooney. It's because he's bloody good. Man Utd would have won the league without RVP. It helps of course when your main rivals are managed by Rafa and Mancini.
Chelsea could be little bit awesome if they get Wazza.
I'm sure United know this and I just can't see him being sold to them, unless they offer up something huge.
