You're assuming though that our players wont improve from last season. Ramsey, Gibbs, Wilshere, Theo, Chesney, should all naturally improve year on year as they get older. The same can't really be said for a lot of Man Utd players because they're at their peak and can only really decline. Of course they'll strengthen though at the fist sign of decline.
You've also got Cazorla and Giroud who should be better in their second seasons.
Of course we still need better players, 100%, this transfer window has been a disaster. But our existing players should/could also improve.
Wenger is batshit crazed man.
On the evidence of our last game those, we haven't improved one bit, but hey, even the last 8 years never really happened either. Things can only get better since we smashed both City and the Turks
There were a lot of should s in your post . When we add them together do they make a "Will"
While we assume our ugly ducklings will turn into Swans, ambitious teams actually go out in search of better players

Well I think Ramsey has improved since last season. Walcott has certainly improved in his time with us, still as frustrating as hell but his goals/assists record is excellent. Wilshere must surely improve now his injury is healed. Chesney's still pretty crap and Gibbs isn't great but I think they'll improve - hopefully in Chesney's case not in the first team.
I still am in no doubt that the team is not good enough and we need 3 or 4 world class players but that's not to say our existing players can't improve.
Look at players like Bale, always looked pretty good as a teenager but I never thought he'd become the player he is today. Players in their early 20's can improve a lot very quickly.
Don't really buy into the idea that all players improve by default on the basis of a years experience. Players improve with good management and also by being complimented with quality players around them. 2 things we don't have anymore.
