ffs!
NOTE: The location of this post has been moved and the thread title (which was previously Wenger is Leaving) has been manipulated by a notorious pro-Wenger moderator. What was previously a message that contained no profanity and made a comment on a real life event has now been manipulated by a deliberately provocative title. An old and crude propaganda and censorship technique.
Little bit took their eye off the ball. Although Sky will probably come back with a £2 billion offer.
This pretty much cements BT Sport on the scene. They have done what ITV Digital, Setanta and ESPN failed to do. It is not particularly surprising, they have far more resources and a lot more was/is at stake. The TV channel element of the competition is somewhat of a sideshow element to the main battle between Sky and BT across a number of platforms.
It's weird. It's good and bad in some ways.
Good that Sky don't hold a monopoly on top level football anymore and face some competition to their dominant status meaning they may start having to come down in pricing. But bad that to get comprehensive football coverage you're going to have to shell out for two packages now.
Well it at least nails the coffin in me getting Sky Sports than. Really no point without CL football. As others have said, I'm really surprised that Sky have allowed this to happen as CL football was one of their most attractive jewels in their collection.
Read that as part of the agreement BT Sport have to broadcast some matches as free to air. Whether that'll be any relevant or interesting games with UK teams or shithouse fodder games like Victoria Plezen vs FC Copenhagen remains to be seen though.
Still, it should mean we get a lot more money for participating in the CL and create a further disparity between the top four and the rest.![]()
Apparently "at least one game (per tournament?!) featuring British teams" will be 'free', as will the final. Which seems to be all-pervading pointlessness to me.
ITV will have no club football at all now, incidentally. Just thought I'd drop that in there.
Surprised Sky let them have it, that's a shit load of money though, and they'll still probably keep their subscription prices pretty high even without the champions league![]()
ITV.
Looks like I'll have to get BT Infinity when the time comes then.
