CONFIRMED: Juan Mata will have a medical at Manchester United tomorrow after a £37m (45m Euros) fee was agreed with Chelsea.

I find it a bit odd given Chelsea could easily face Man Utd in the Champions League (ok so Mata can't play in it but the point is...he now can't play in it).
Still a good signing for Man Utd no doubt. Moyes will probably find a way to injure him with his dinosaur training methods though.

Mata won't make a huge difference, Utd have problems all over the pitch and they'll need to spend big to correct them. But even then they have a problem several magnitudes bigger which can't be overcome with a few signings - Moyes.
This is good news. The Utd fans will be calmed by this and it will buy Moyes more time to keep destroying the club. Plus the chavs lose their best player. It's a good day all in all if not a totally inexplicable.

It's just a patently retarded move from Chelsea. Even if there are no short term consquences (Mata is clearly surplus to requirements right now) there are going to be long term consquences of this. It gives Man Utd a possible stay of execution from the potential collapse of their empire.
It's in Chelsea's interests (as well as ours and City's) to keep Man Utd outside of the top four and avoid them any possiblity of regrouping again for the title. They're much more likely to finish fourth, keep RVC & Rooney and recruit the calibre of players they need to compete again for the title again, if they make a massive signal of intent by signing Mata now. It would be so much more preferable for a new lower tier without the current infrastucture or pedigree like an Everton, Liverpool or even Spurs to get it ahead of them.
