Seeing how Wenger is able to use wit, charm, play his cards to chest when talking of our own transfer dealings and deflect criticism away from his players when dealing with the media, how could he walk blindly into this basic trap? How many times have people talked about this mythical Wenger 'smoke screen' when talking of our transfer targets but here the assumption is he's been manipulated by the journalist to twist a narrative?

We all know Jose is a troublemaker. Wenger knows that and Jose can wind him up so much that he'll take serious offense and threaten legal action. Let's not forget the 'voyeur' saga. Wenger is no good at the mind games imo and Jose will get the best of him so it's best to ignore him and his squad even when asked by the journalists. He's smart enough to swerve those traps.

Also, we really shouldn't be worried about Chelsea, Man Utd or whoever has the advantage. It sounds like we're scared, worried and making excuses. I'm hoping we finally get the best of Jose's team this season and then Wenger can really gloat, but until then....

I understood your comment fine, but i think you misunderstood my comment. The part you highlighted was partly about when Wenger last summer said that he thinks the transfer window should close before the league starts and partly about Mourinho saying that Wenger was okay with a late transfer window because he got Özil.
