If they'd genuinely disapproved, they wouldn't have underpinned the story with a post mortem on Wenger and headlines such as, "So is Jose right?" Instead they would have pressed on with a character assassination of Mourinho, as they do with anyone they can get between their teeth. Maureen gave them the prefect excuse and their response was a titter and a shake of the head before moving on to the main course - killing Wenger. Even now the criticism that should be heaped on Mourinho is muted. Just imagine the outcomes reversed, Mourinho coming off a cup win and Wenger empty handed. It would be open season and a field day.
I think you’re seeing stuff that isn’t there. I’ve seen worse from the media. They keep it respectful when it comes to Wenger and you want find many out there really going for him. Stewart Robson is probably his biggest critic and he seems like a lone voice out there. Most writers and pundits warn Arsenal fans to be careful of what you wish for. Some say he should go also, but it’s far from clear cut.
