More importantly the quality of football hasn't been particularly good. It has been good in terms of drama but standards haven't been high. Germans are trying but there are even holes in their defence.

French have had their moments, that despicable bloke Robben too. But Argentina and Brazil have been disappointing, Chile and Costa Rica much more watchable. It's only England that has fully lived up to expectations.

Entertaining but it all stems from FIFA's doctoring of the game- they've made the offside rules and game so attack minded nobody has the capabilities of defending for 90 minutes anymore.
