A bit early to rule it out completely but the 3 - 5 - 2 doesn't seem compatible with the PL. The game is played too fast here and it seems to leave the three at the back way too exposed.

Well I'm not going to write them off after a game, but I just think they need better players.

Up front and attacking they're fine. Against many, maybe even the majority of teams that will probably be enough on its own. But their midfield and defence are still weak. A back three of Jones, Smalling and Blackett? Evans and Rafael are the only other two "senior" defenders I can think of, from there they're relying on no marks like Lingard and Blackett. For some reason I keep thinking they bought Vermaelen. Shaw has caught Roon disease. Youngy back in ffs. They've bought Herrera, which is a good signing but the midfield (especially only playing two in the middle) still looks very slow and laboured what with Carrick and Fletcher partnering him. He won't be able to do it all on his own.

I think they still need 3/4/5 good players to come in. I wasn't really far off thinking that before all their outgoings this summer.

But still, Van Gaal is a God and we mustn't cross Him. The Leader is good. The Leader is great.
