If any of the following is true (standard Metro disclaimer applies) then forget all that shit about the club being ambitious. Fact is, we aren't.

Absolutely no lose situation for Utd. If he's as good as he has been elsewhere then £51mill is the going rate. If he bombs they hand him back. How we passed up on this is beyond incredible. There must be some other factor that hasn't been made public.
    =============

Arsenal were in for for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao – but pulled the plug on the deal after deciding that he was too expensive.
Falcao is set to seal a dramatic loan move to Manchester United before the transfer window shuts, with the Old Trafford club paying a reported £6million loan fee, plus all of his £7million-a-year wages.
It means the total package to bring Falcao in is £13million, and the Telegraph says that Arsenal were considering paying that, but Arsene Wenger decided it was too expensive.
Arsenal did check on Falcao but wage demands were not deemed affordable. Live transfer window coverage here:http://t.co/Z8zA1375dA

United will now complete their deal for the Colombian shortly, with the player en route to England for a medical.
The Red Devils will have an option to sign Falcao permanently next summer for about £51million.

We're scavenging off scraps for the Metro. Bony for twice what he's worth plus that nobody Reid from WHU. Nobody else is mentioning anything about us except Jim White who claims we'll definitely do some business. I shudder to think.

    Cheers NQ.

Too expensive to bring in one of the worlds best strikers, but you have Podolski on £100,000 a week doing fuck all on the bench

Here's some fantasy stuff to at least give you a cheap buzz while we wait for Reid to be confirmed.

If I hear anything on Messi or Ronaldo I'll let you know.

Even if we use Alexis as a striker, we still need some cover and that cover cannot be Sanogo for obvious reasons. So it was just taken for granted we'd bring somebody in, despite that failings during previous transfer windows. This time it had to be different because the situation is so ludicrous. On the one hand you have a club claiming to be chasing the title, on the other you have Sanogo. The two things are mutually exclusive. Actually I still think we must sign a striker. It's impossible not to given the circumstances.
This is what a lot of us were saying last year. Its what we say every year to be honest but last year we were told that we had a decent war chest to go out & do business. To many people on this site got too excited by a trophy last year, for our short term future it was the worst thing that could have happened. Wenger winning a trophy means "he was right - he knows what he is doing" - if we'd won fuck all last year I think there would have been significant pressure on him from the board to invest in quality during his contract talks. If he refused, then he should have been shown the door.
Think everyone should de-stress themselves, especially all those who wanted him to stay - you are now reaping the rewards of another 3 years. We will not compete at the very top again with this man in charge, of that I am 100% sure.
The only good news is that Wenger will get the Pope's blessing for our season during his lovely visit to Rome today to manage a team for the Pope, in a charity friendly - wonder how many of the other top teams manager's can afford to do this on the busiest day in the footballing calender. Bearing in mind he would have accepted this honour a good while ago, he had already taken the view to do fuck all. Injury to Giroud & the complete lack of any threat upfront means we're fucked for another long year.

hasn't the transfer window already closed in the Bundesliga? I mean, not that we needed any more reasons why that was never going to happen.

Also, at this point I would be delighted with Bony. Sign him up!

This journalist @AS_Maroto says Arsenal have made a €40m Reus bid and Dortmund have rejected it.
