Think people are getting a bit too carried away with this victory

Madrid were missing 3 out their first choice back 5 and went into the game low on confidence having lost to a newly promoted side over the weekend. It was the perfect time to play them.

Imagine spurs playing the game without lloris, vertonghen and aldeweirald. Different outcome.

Even if Spurs were missing those guys, at the very least they wouldn’t be on the end of the pastings we’ve grown accustomed to in this competition.

Don’t think any sane individual is getting carried away but let’s call a spade a spade here, they’re a very good team now.

I don’t know. Madrid weren’t just poor defensively, they were poor going forward

How much of that was to do them with having a shit game and how much was due to Spurs who knows

You can’t stop the media getting carried away, they even did it with us a long, long time ago

But Madrid lost to Wolfsburg in Germany 2-0 in 2016 in the quarter finals before going on to win the thing so as a one off result it’s not indicative of anything.

However I think with the possible exception of PSG (who are also absolute chokers) there is no head and shoulders above contender for the competition. Barca have no midfield, Juve are very beatable, Bayern have an ageing side

Therefore ruling City or even Spurs out as challengers would be precipitous

I'm not so sure people are. Spurs have improved season upon season, they are now genuine PL title contenders, I don't like it and it took me a while to accept it but that is the reality of the situation.

They have an owner and Manager who won't accept second best, they want to improve and whilst many including myself laughed at them a couple of seasons back they have stuck to their guns and improved. We are an absolute disgrace compared to them, we have an owner and manager who basically represent the opposite of what they represent.

Wenger was harping on about us doing well after we got humiliated 10-2 on aggregrate against Bayern, they are happy but not content with beating the current CL champions 3-1, compare and contrast, it's embarrassing.

I've seen plenty of people say this is the night spurs came of age, on radio last night people saying spurs can go on and win the premier league now, and you think aldeweirald is the best defender in the league.

    So I think they are.

    Spurs are Spurs

Until they actually win something that won't change

Winning the 'we put pressure on them' trophy isn't something to gloat about. Neither is 1 carling cup in 26 years.

Well I'd rather be in there position than ours if I'm honest. I don't care about FA Cups and finishing 5th, I want to see our manager improve our team, improve players in the team, I want to see us competing with the best and beating the best.

I never said Alderweireld is the best defender in the league.

I don’t listen to the radio so I can’t comment on that but more often than not you’ll get people on those kind of shows with extreme opinions because it makes for a better listen. I’d take it with a pinch of salt, I barely read or listen to anything the media have to say anymore, you know the reaction will be knee-jerk because that's what sells. I know plenty of ordinary Spurs fans who appreciate how well they’re doing but know there’s a good chance they will “Spurs it up”.
