City have the same points now, with 9 games left, as we won the title with in 1998

That's because they bought 3 internationals for every position in the team. There is nothing even moderately remarkable about what they have done. Had they not done it, that would have been remarkable. I suppose the amount of cash they have blown getting the team right is pretty remarkable. So yes, I'll give them that. Otherwise, none of their players rank high in the list of PL entertainers and none of their results stick in the memory. The most predictable champions since the PL began. Their cash has made the whole thing inevitable and desperately dull.

They’re better than the Invincibles.
Not even close. The Invincibles had to do the business in a league of players who could play. Now the league is packed with pubbers and ultra defensive, plodding coaches. We saw the gypos being ripped to shreds by Liverpool and there's a reason for that. Klopp didn't buy into their hype and he exploited a weakness that will always mark them out as inferior to the Invincibles - their shit defence.
So much hype about this lot, mostly in worship of Guardiola. But prior gypo teams were a lot better if you wanted to go and enjoy watching a match. Pep plays boring shit and has always played boring shit. Very technical, very disciplined, very effective. But ultra boring. There's only one man in football more boring than Pep, and we all know who that is. Maureen. That's right. Not even Wenger is as boring as Pep - he tries to be but he's not good enough to emulate him.

I’m joking but if they win the CL I’d have to rank them as better. Not winning the CL was a huge failure on our part, especially as the quality of the top teams in Europe back then was not as strong as it is now.

Not saying they are a bad team. Certainly Pep's Barca weren't a bad team, they were excellent. But brain shatteringly boring, like this current crop of gypos. I think you need to provide a bit of entertainment to be considered great. That's why you don't hear anyone talking about Maureen's teams in those terms.
